    Hiya Marley.

No, that was my D/L speed, at least it was. I've just done another test, and I'm getting 3mb.

If I've understood RR correctly that issue is addressed in the forthcoming 1.2 version rollout :)

Woo that's a problem with your browser, rather than GC (I expect you know that though :) )

The Flash Plugin for Chrome Browser is frequently mentioned in Chrome support forums, so perhaps it is not a happy marriage with a variety of browsers :(

Good idea. Would be worth doing a PING to gardenerscorner.co.uk too (both now and when slow) to see if the "latency" is slower this evening.

Dunno if the server is in Italy? but PING from Italy seems to be the fastest :)

Also dunno how you do PING from your machine (which is the comparative test that you need) in a user friendly way :( My method would be to open a Command Line Prompt and then just type

        PING gardenerscorner.co.uk

        right now that gives me:

Pinging gardenerscorner.co.uk [193.183.98.17] with 32 bytes of data:
        Reply from 193.183.98.17: bytes=32 time=84ms TTL=50

Now you've blinded me with science Kristen, I have no idea what any of that means, and I have no idea how to set up the ping test for GC, sorry.

For Windows select Start > Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt

or for Windows 10 Search Apps for "Command Prompt" and select it.

Then, when the little black window appears immediately after C:\Users\Sheal>
          type ping gardenerscorner.co.uk

so it looks like this C:\Users\Sheal>ping gardenerscorner.co.uk

          then hit the Return key

          Something like this:
          GC ping.png

The "time" (around 40 - 60ms in your and Sheal's samples) is how long it took to get a response from the GC server to a "hello" type message. A "ping" test is pretty much the skinniest message that can be sent, so it is basically a measure of how long it takes to say "Hello" and to get a "Hello yourself" message back. It is worth repeating the test when you detect that the site is slow - if PING then takes the same amount of time then it is definitely the server that has slowed down.
