    Hi guys

I don't know what your experience of this supplier but I really annoyed with them right now. I ordered 3 Clematis from them months ago and I'm still waiting. Granted it did say June dispatch so I've rang them a couple of time for an update. The problem is they keep you on hold forever! I gave up the first few times but today I stuck with it and 15 minutes later from a mobile, ringing an 0844 number, I finally got though. Turns out they have 158 people on hold at that point :dunno:

So instead of selling plants and seeds, they are now making their money by keeping their customers on hold ringing an expensive phone number. I'm deeply disappointed in them and will never order from them again.

Never tried them as I think they are quite over priced. Never been dissapointed with the quality, service or price of Mr Fothergills however.

I've used them a few times for seeds and plants, never rang them, just emailed. They do respond to emails but it takes a couple of days, which might be a way of preserving your sanity and keeping down phone bills.

I have just checked out Fothergills but they don't have the plant I wanted. I'm just waiting for T&M to ring me back and i'm going to cancel my order, I've been waiting since April for a plant, I have now discovered Plantify have in stock now and are available for dispatch. Phoned my order through to them and they answered the phone on the first ring! Plus they are bigger for the same price!

Sorry to rant but I'm big on customer service, if I treated my customers like this, I would be sacked.

Although T&M do list plants as "Available XXX month" I find it very frustrating that they provide no Order Status info on their web site, and no "Get ready, we are dispatching it today" email.

My company builds big shopping cart websites for big name brands and "if we treated our clients like this" we wouldn't have any !!!

            Say no to 0870 gives 01473 806145 for T&M.

I only use them when there's some special offer like seeds 50 to 75% or more off, buy 2 get 1 free, free P&P, plus have a money off voucher code (preferably all of those combined!) and go through a cashback site to get another 12% off.

Always save T&M seed packets and be ready to claim for poor/failed germination, wrong seeds in packet, etc. and beware when opening their packets because they put the batch details (that they'll ask you for) on the tab at the top of the packet which is what most people tear off when opening it.

That's why I was ringing them and probably a good percentage of the other 158 people on hold. Never mind, no shortage of plant and seed sellers, I'll take my addiction to another dealer

Oddly enough, I have just posted about them in the 'What are we doing in the garden today' thread,, as I have just come home to a letter, as follows:

Now, whilst they are clearly trying to do the right thing by sending complimentary plants and a £10 voucher, this is one of a number of issues I have had with them this year:

              - T&M seeds, with the exception of Geranium Maverick have either germinated very poorly or failed completely (where as Suttons, Fothergills, Johnsons & Real Seed Catalogue seeds have done really well under the same conditions)

              - 48 Strawberry runners ordered, unable to supply the variety ordered so supplied a different (softer skinned) variety without prior warning.

              - 'Free' tree offer where three different trees were going to be supplied, one of which was a Magnolia (which is the only one of the three I was bothered about) - - two of one variety and one of another were supplied and only one of those varieties were originally advertised in the email

              - Dahlia XXXL, 8 plugs ordered with a delivery date of end of June clearly shown on the website, which brought the letter above.

Now, whilst the vouchers etc are all well and good (£25 I have accrued now), I still have plants that I didn't want/choose, and 8 ruddy great holes in my display for this year that I now have no idea how I am going to fill! :wallbanging:

Hacked off doesn't even begin to cover it, and at the moment I am disinclined to ever order from them again.

EDIT - and I have just remembered their 'bargain' double hanging basket with 5 x petunias and 5 x fuchsias was also a joke as the whole lot remains hanging in the greenhouse to try and stir some growth into them; the petunias are so bad, I actually lobbed bigger ones away when I was potting my home grown ones on.

That reminds me of another thing T&M do when you use vouchers to buy something that fails - they deduct a pro-rata for the vouchers off your refund. For example if you used £25 in vouchers given as compensation against a £50 order, if anything in that order fails they will try and only refund 50% of what you paid for the sec, meaning you've effectively 'lost' part of your previous compensation - until you get on the phone to them and give them what for!

And another thing (got me going now) is when your seeds have failed they try and offer replacement seeds despite the fact that by then it's far too late to plant them and if they failed in the year they were supposed to be sown then surely they'd have even less chance of germinating if sown a year later.

I'm glad I started this thread now, seems I'm not the only customer they have badly treated.

I need some Big Flowered dahlias too FC, in particular I would like Emory Paul as Iwhen I was sorting-for-planting at the w/e I don't remember seeing any of those.

Just been on a quick trawl for plants, if you happen to find any plants of big'uns Dahlias could you let me know which site please ... most places have already run-out or stopped-selling I reckon.

I will Kristen :blue thumb: - not that I think I will have much luck. The only thing I can find so far is tubers, which will surely be too late to bring on now?
