Blimey it was cold today. The thermometer stated 4c at 7am this morning. Felt like March than the end of May. No wonder most things are struggling.
Im thinking of getting three Heuchera for the front of the border after watching Chelsea tonight.

Heucheras are very much the 'In' thing :dbgrtmb: and are easy to look after.

Rain rain rain, heavy April showers in May and feels like March :blue thumb:

Guess what, no puddles in the wet area, all drained away. Fingers crossed my digging trenches has paid off :blue thumb:

I hope it's worked Mr. Grinch. We've had next to no rain here for the last month and the hosepipe is out, especially with my sandy soil. :)

Been away for a week or so. No standing water so the omens are looking good. Its amazing how the garden has changed in only 7 days. The Geranium have put on a lot of growth and flowering, the new Aquilegia that a sowed last year are not doing as great. They don't seem to be putting on top growth but i've seen it before and they should be ok for next year. I planted the dahlia's out today, so fingers crossed, they should be ok. I cut the grass also. I'm itching to get this lawn sorted out but no point as it will be trampled on to complete the paths and wall. Will have to wait until after that, then cut, wrake, cut again, buy turf and raise the dips then weed and feed. Then in the autumn, aerate. Lot of work but next year, it should be worth it. I also tied in the Delphiniums.

Must say, the Rhodo that i saved in wet border and potted up last autumn has really put on a show:

You're right, Mr G, you go away for a few days and when you come back the garden has filled out and changed. My Dhalias were planted in large and small pots last month and are showing through the compost nicely now. I
I've got sandy soil as you know and it isn't the best stuff to grow grass on as it soon loses nutrients. I wish you the best of luck with yours and your plans for it. It's going to take a bit of time and patience I reckon.

What a glorious day. I'm currently have lunch on my patio. You don't get better than this, sun, warmth and a garden bursting with life. Getting a real buzz out of the occasional sparrow and blue tit using my new tree's to perch in. Just what they were for.

Trimmed my Box hedge. Its first trim, nothing drastic just the stems that have shot away faster than the others. I bought these two years ago, so a bit of a wait but worth it. They have grown more this year than the past two and doing it has just tidied it up rather than shape it crisply. I reckon at least another two years for that.
