I think this is a lot of fuss about nothing. I agree with the argument that it's no fun ducking in and out of the nearside lane through a constant stream of mammoth lorries - especially in the wet. And, when vehicles are joining from a slip road, it can get very chummy in that nearside lane. As I have said, I stay clear of lanes 1 and 2 when I can. If someone's flashing me and is on a mission, I will always indicate and go into the middle lane when safe to do so.

Schools and teachers that have ideas WAY above their station!

I collected my 9-year old daughter from school about an hour ago, and as we were walking out of the school she told me that her PE kit had gone missing (the school insists that PE kits are kept in the school for the duration of each term, only being sent home for washing at the end of term, which I don't like but that is another story....); apparently, her plimsoles had appeared in the classroom of the year above hers, but the rest of the kit (shorts, T-shirt and bag) had gone AWOL. This is the second time that something similar has happened within this school year, and we had to fork out for new stuff last time as it never turned up. Anyway, my daughter told me that her teacher was going to have a hunt before the PE class next week and try and find it all - fair enough.

I had just started the car to head home, when she told me that she was worried about next week's PE lesson as her 'Sports Focus' teacher had told her that she would get detention if she didn't have her PE kit next week.

Blue touch paper now lit [IMG], engine was switched off and we went back into the school to 'have a word'. Who in the name of the wee man does this little nyaff think he is threatening a 9-year old girl with detention? Particularly when detention would be a massive deal for her, as she is one of those kids that takes school really quite seriously (a swot we would have called her in my day :snork: ), and even more so since her PE kit was clearly stolen from her classroom whilst it was clearly the responsibility of the school? What's worse, is said wee nyaff isn't even a full time teacher at the school - apparently they only come in to do the PE lessons once or twice a week!

Needless to say, it was made abundantly clear that there is only 5 more PE lessons between now and the end of the school year, and as they had been irresponsible enough to allow the kit to go AWOL, there would be no replacement before next year; and it Mr Wee Nyaff wanted to try and make an issue of it, he has an open invite to a detention - with free verbal intercourse with me! That is a disgrace FC........If the school insists the PE kit stays in school to me they have accepted responsibility for it.....can't understand it when it will need washing but as you say that's another story......have you got the receipts from the last kit you had to replace?because as far as i'm concerned you need to be reimbursed for that as well as this kit.....
As for the threat of detention you need to speak to the Head and he needs well and truly reprimanding for speaking and frightening a child like that.....he's not fit to be a teacher:mad:

Which means he's got no real connection with Kids and how to manage them. The School is just another place of "work" in his contract where he can shout, pressurise and bully Kids which does seem to remind me of PE teachers when I was a kid.:dunno:

Sadly, we don't have the receipt; the thing is, I try not to be unreasonable, especially where kids are concerned. The children all have individual responsibility to bring their PE bags back from the changing rooms and then they go into one of two big baskets - one for girls, one for boys. I am all too aware that kids of that age generally have their heads in the clouds, so it is not entirely impossible that the kit has been left behind her bum in the changing room (as she seems to leave most garments she takes off in the house behind her bum on the floor :snork:), or has gone into the wrong basket or something like that.

What really ignited me was the threat of detention when it wasn't warranted, and the fact that the tell-tale 'stream' marks were on her face where she had obviously been crying. I set my stall out quite early on with that school, so suffice to say they know not to mess me around; a few years ago, not long after she started school, we had the school wanting money for photos, a school trip, a poetry book, a class designed tea-towel and then a couple of other wee things - I had shelled out £120 inside a month, and the last straw came when the school decided to do a play and I 'had' to buy a black jumper for my daughters part in it - - - fuse lit, verbal intercourse with the headmistress ensued and she was basically told to climb out of my wallet.

That was closely followed by a further run-in when the then deputy head tried to 'dictate' to me which direction I travelled down the road that the school sits on, because they had a one way system; suffice to say it was pointed out that it was a public carriageway, marked for two-way traffic, my vehicle was taxed, MOT'd and insured for the road, and that I had more driving qualifications and skill in my little finger than she had in her entire body. Of course, I welcomed her to get an officer of the law to back up her request to operate in one direction only, and I would of course comply........

Don't get me wrong, I am not against the school and have done them a number of favours, particularly in my line of work supplying buses/coaches at short notice, as well as donating thousands of pounds of stuff for their jumble sales. I just will not stand for any nonsense.

We are all fine thank you Jenny :)

I can assure you that he is in a lot less poo than he would have been if I had got to speak to him - - one of the joys of having over 400 staff is that you quickly learn how to speak to people to get the best from them whilst leaving them under no illusion that you are not to be tangoed with. ;)

He isn't - my daughter's teacher was livid when I spoke to her, and in all fairness to her she is one of those people that when she says she is going to deal with something, she follows on and does, and will always give feedback after.

She has promised that she will be having words with the individual concerned, and that he will be left in no doubt what acceptable behaviour is. :blue thumb:

FC, you're right about the staff at schools getting high and mighty, I've heard similar issues from my daughter and friends. Some of these so called teachers are nothing but bullies, also with the parents as well. There is enough bullying going on between pupils nationwide, perhaps they are taking the lead from the teaching staff.

Perhaps you can insist that your daughter brings her P.E. kit home with her when it's not in use, either that or insist that they pay for what's missing.

Today i am the owner of a £50 parking ticket...which i am NOT paying..........
The ticket was issued because ....i was in a pay and display car park and didn't display my ticket 'clearly'.....it was smack bang in the middle of my vision on the screen....how much clearer do they want it:gaah:.....i have contacted the relevent people (and stayed calm) but they wouldn't entertain me and said if i want to appeal it has to be put in writing ....too right i want to appeal.....i've never had a ticket in my life and i'm quite peturbed about it.....
I've even taken a picture of both the tickets...'theirs' and mine...which are clearly visable....so why give me a ticket in the first place......:gaah:

It's suprising how quick you can scrap spuds when you've got your mad up:biggrin:

My brother used to go over to Ontario to visit his friend and they' drive down the East Coast from there going through the different States and collect speeding tickets from the guys with Shades, big hats, and guns and literally throw them into the back seat because as my brother said with a grin "We'd be on a plane the next week, me back to the UK and my pal back to Canada". He nearly got a night in the Hoosegow for asking one particular Cop who was being a bit of a Hitler if it was true "That to join the Police you had to know somebody who could write".:snork:
I'm not sure if they can get away with the "not properly displayed" ploy, loli, as you've got the ticker for the period in question and it's their word against yours about it being properly displayed. :snork:
