The toms that are giving me cause for concern are the Jaune Flamme which were sown the same time as the rest and been treated the same but are stunted........has anyone grown them before???:snork:

Funny how they vary. Are all your other varieties the same ARMANDII ?

    :oopss:

The Alicante are really strong as are the Shirley and Rosada. The Black Seaman started off very slow but steadily got better and better so they are okay now although they worried me at first. I would say that 50% are showing flowers but they are not exactly reaching for the sky just yet.:snork:

I have quite a few tomatoes that seem to have split into a V shaped stem - and on each one of them that has this, both sides of the V has got a truss setting on it.

Is this maybe a symptom of the weather or something this year?

I am pretty sure that I haven't missed taking off any robbers?

I'll try and get some tomorrow - they look healthy enough for it, so I am not overly worried, it just seemed odd.

I'm wondering if its because they all sort of 'stalled' for a while because of the low temps?

One thing is for sure, this year's plants are much happier than last year's ever were

I had the same "V" shaped - with the side shoot just as big as the main shoot - I broke it off (and planted it under half a coke bottle and it has rooted - happened on the moneymaker)

I am also a fool with no memory :ouch1: One of my beef toms went blind - so I left the top side shoot to take its place which was a good size. A few days later I was out there picking off the side shoots from the others - thought to myself - how have I missed this one ? and duly broke it off - afterwards realising it was the blind one - Oh dear yet another senior moment - now the new side shoot is very very tiny - so will probably only get a couple of toms off this plant

Whilst we're all on a downer, one of my big outdoor Angelina's got decked by the wind this morning. Strapped it to the fence now but it don't look too happy,

Tomatoes are very good at mending damaged stems if splinted.

These June winds are becoming far to regular an event for my liking, disrupting both squash planting and sea fishing trips when I would be expecting calmer summer seas for lure fishing.
