Went to the summer fate at the local church with the in laws earlier today and bought a ligularia, 2x lobelia Queen Victoria for the dark border and also bought a Hosta all for a tenner. Planted Ligularia and Lobelia also planted a climbing rose up the fence and planted a Lavatera. Then tied in toms and fed and tied in beans and peas.

No gardening today, I spent the afternoon colour varnishing the wood for a log cabin before I put it together. :)

well it was beautiful here today, isn't it such a pleasure to garden in the sunshine:SUNsmile: gardening wise i mowed the grass, gave the cotoneaster a little prune, cleared away the shrivelled up foliage from the half dozen pots of daffs (soon i'll be able to use said pots for my annuals :)) tidied up the primroses/marigolds, potted on one of my big-ish ferns into a decent sized pot, gave the decking a 'seriously' good sweeping & put a lick of stain on the fencing. yep today was a good day

I've spent two hours weeding and now retired to my armchair on my back's insistence. :)

I planted 2 new genea impatients along with 4 more geums, put my water feature together, and cut the lawn and edged the borders.

Mowed both he back lawns and did some long overdue weeding in the border on the bottom lawn. It's amazing how different it looks.

Trying to recover from a overnight stop and a friend's umptifirth Birthday party where I was forced to drink that nasty stuff Beer, Wine, and Whisky. So I've just been wandering around the garden with short canes again, and the inevitable string, to tie up some flopping perennial Poppies and Paeonies............that's enough for today:snork:

had to tie up 2 clumps of a) Campanula "Kent Belle" and b)Campanula persifolia today as the wind had been trying to floor them yesterday.

My husband has had a good idea. Off to buy a broom handle from the Hardware shop tomorrow. Saw it in half and drive half the stake down near the clump and tie around it. Might lose a bit of the clump - maybe not. It's early days and there's plenty of growing still to come yet. I am so looking forward to an enormous display of lilac .
ps the Salvia Leucantha , which I left in the border overwinter, is up and running . Hope to get some cuttings off that to overwinter and put in a pot to display on its own next year.
Saw it at a friend's house last year - looked stunning. Already dreaming of next year... :wub2:

Not much today. Fed all the bedding and cannas on the back and trimmed the hedge behind the GH.

Staked up a good few tomatoes as they were starting to struggle to hold themselves up, which then prompted a mass eviction session from the greenhouse - loads of straggly tomatoes that I should have given up on a long time ago were culled, and the shelving with the remaining as-yet-unplanted annuals (petunias, nicotianas, malva zebrina, peas, beans, strawberries) were all evicted out on to the patio to let me get my marmande tomatoes, hot Caribbean peppers and my cucumbers rearranged almost into their final positions in the greenhouse - - wee bit still to do, but the evictions had to happen as I was running out of room.

I then watered those that needed, and started running string around my makeshift pea and bean frame to make a wee maze for my plants to play in when I get them planted out (hopefully tomorrow).

And then I took some time to take a couple of piccies:

Main border is starting to show signs of colour!

A wee bit more string, hopefully get my peas and beans in tomorrow and then cover with some netting to keep the birds and the dog off.

The 'evictees' sat on the patio (excuse the state of it, very much a work in progress at the moment) - got a day off on Friday, so weather willing I will get a bit done.

Hopefully that bit will include the front, as its one hell of a state, in a very short time:

I had to back off the exposure on my phone camera as it couldn't cope with the yellow colour - its a wee cracker right enough; this is its first year, so hopefully I will get more out of it next year onwards
