Lovely! I want to add some to my, ever growing, collection sometime. Are they difficult to care for?

      These species are quite easy.
I keep them with my other sub-tropical Drosera in my greenhouse.Min 5*C in winter.
They are in full sun, in a dish of rain water.

Thank you. I may give it a go then. Hmmm, going to have to make more space! :)

I found a huge expanse of native Sundew a mile or two from where I live on Monday, I believe it is the Long Leaved Variety Drosera Longifolia.

Very nice! That is Drosera intermedia . Quite a tough little species and far easier to grow than the more common D rotundifolia.

Yup, was going to say intermedia too.

It is quite a widepread species and some of the clones from warmer areas are easier to grow as they don't need a dormant/cold period

              Sal,
Do you know what you got?
              How have you treated them?

I bought some seeds of Drosera binata multifida "extrema" from Chilterns a few months ago. Was ready to give up after 6 weeks, but they are only just starting to germinate.

I'm not sure 'extrema' comes true from seed. I'm certain it is a selected variety of the typical multifida.

                Coolsox,
In Stewart McPhearsons "Glistening Carnivores", he discusses them as coming from distinct populations.

Interesting. I had a rather good specimen that I believe came from reading uni. The mid summer leaves used to have around 20 or so points! I've always been convinced it was a selected cultivar.

I used to know Stewart back when I was a member of the Carnivorous Plant Society. he was a really nice and enthusiastic fellow. Very passionate about the hobby. Nearly went away with him and a few other fellow CP collectors to see wild populations of Sarracenia but ended up cancelling as I met and moved in with my other half that same year. Really hope to catch up with him again someday.

I have a small piece of extrema that I have purchased recently.
Hopefully it will start producing some decent sized leaves soon.

I have chatted with Stewart recently on a few issues.
He is releasing some good publications soon.
Among them a trilogy of Drosera of the World, and also a reprint of Lowrie's 3 books.

Having a quick look in Glistening Carnivores, extrema was apparently discovered in New South Wales.
