    Hello chums:)

Just a gentle reminder, pics need to be in on July 1st:blue thumb: Not many of us left now:frown:

Out of interest, are any of you giving your Onions any 'special' treatment? I just added some BF&B prior to planting, and some C/M pellets a couple of weeks ago.

    Cheers...Freddy

Same as you Freddy, I sprinkled some C/M pellets a week or so ago. Last night I gave them a liquid feed.

I noticed the three in my open top cloche have suddenly got a move on, it's pretty subjective but I'm sure they have started to bulk up. They are not making much new top growth now, my sets are starting to get as tall as the Kelsae.

I was wondering about the 'feeding' business but haven't fed them so far...i was hoping by now they would have got their roots into all the gubbins i put in when i prepared the bed last autumn....

Nothing special Freddy, it was a general purpose feed 3:3:3 from the pound shop. I fed a lot of things with it last night, cannas, spuds, brugs, runner beans etc etc. If I had got organised I should have made a comfrey brew for the onions, too late now.

Too late for Comfrey? Damn, just last night I asked a friend to get hold of some for me:doh:

Vince said about it some time ago, but what are it's attributes?

To be honest I don't really know, I thought it took a couple of months to brew? Perhaps Scrungee knows?

Funnily enough, Monty made up a brew last week on G/W. Pretty sure he said it takes 4 weeks...

I thought you were talking about comfrey wine when I read that (there's doubts these days as to whether it's safe these days).

I'm cutting tall comfrey (+ nettles) at the moment and putting it in my collection of old ex-cold water storage tanks. When it stinks to high heaven it will be ready - about 3 weeks in this weather.

I've got another dustbin full of comfrey brew on the go, to go along with the other one that is rife, ready and being used on onions, toms and most other veggies too.
