14c, 8c down on yesterday, drizzle and fog shortened a guided morning walk around another nature reserve, I'll go back sometime if and when the sun shines.

It's been overcast most of the day and I drove into Shopshire to Wem to pick up my sister and take her into Crewe so that she can stay with friends over the weekend and then I'll take her back on the Monday. When driving to Wem there were a few showers but they didn't last long. Back home here in West Cheshire it's stayed dry, still overcast, hardly any breeze with a temperature of 66f.:coffee::snork:

Another terribly sticky day, with little breeze, and none of the promised thunderstorms - shame, coz I love a good light show.

Down on the beach, a sea mist kept visibility to zilch and the air cold. Inland 5 miles and the air has warmed up but still a grey sky today about 19c in Battle now,

Well, I'll go to the top of our stairs! It has gotten gradually brighter since 5pm, and is now a glorious evening with bright sun, a light breeze, and the birds are singing away for all they are worth :blue thumb: 23º at the moment.

A puzzling day today. At 5.30 a.m. it was 59F and rose, gradually, to 71F by 11.00 a.m. with the temperature fluctuating only a little bit depending on whether the sun was in or out. At 12.30 it rained heavily for 15 minutes and lightly for another 30 minutes with the temp dropping to 64F.

Even with the sun out it didn't rise higher than 73F in the afternoon and by 5.30 it had clouded over and got very muggy. It's still close and muggy, with no sun, but the temperature in the last hour has risen to 81F :hate-shocked:

That's very reminiscent of when I was working in the tropics and there was a really bad tropical storm about to hit us!

Shiney, where do you actually have your temperature thermometers ... I assume they are in the shade? It is quite a bemuzzlement (that is NOT a word but a Vickyism) to me as your temps seem to be often quite higher than mine on a regular basis ...

We have these 'control centers' in the house with 'outsiders' in various places in t he shade outdoors with readings indoors.

                  Hi Victoria,
We have very distinct micro climates in the garden and they change depending on the time of year and direction of wind. One area remains constantly warmer than the rest and I call it the Main garden.

Although it's a large part of the garden (almost a quarter of an acre) it's quite enclosed. The north side of the area is the house (filling most of the width and fencing taking the rest).

The east side is the summerhouse, backed by a high hedge and running towards the south side with the willow and shaped conifers (the shaped conifer next to the summerhouse is 11ft high). The are two thermometers on the wall of the summerhouse next to the doors. The orange (clay) one is analogue and the small white one below it is a radio digital - both of which are in constant shade.

The south side stretches from the willow and is solid with trees (apart from a small section of lawn and a 15ft wide flower bed) and is backed (25ft away) by a second row of trees (you can see the tall silver birch trees behind).

The west side has a 10ft high laurel hedge and a few trees.

                  P1130055.JPG

As the area keeps a lot of the wind out and retains the warmth it's constantly warmer than the rest of the garden.

Behind the silver birch we have the vegetable garden and the orchard and wild garden area, and then it's just open fields which gets a lot of wind blasting across it.

The front garden, although it faces the fields to the north, is fairly well protected but doesn't have the tall trees that the Main garden has.

So, the Main garden warms up quicker and retains the heat more. :dbgrtmb:

Yet another grey morning, with light but constant rain, currently 13ºC. The sun is supposed to make an appearance later on, but maximums of between just 18 - 23ºC forecast for the next few days. That's extremely low for this time of year here. :dunno:

A cool sou'westerly and a uniformly grey sky. The mist has cleared away but I wouldn't put money on the sun's appearance in the near future,

Cool, occasional drizzle, and yet very muggy. Not helping me with my heart & kidney problem.

It's a nice 71F, bright but a thickish cover of cloud and feels less humid. So we shouldn't get rain:nonofinger: - which means we probably shall get it :heehee:

It should have rained last night but typically it didn't, that's because I didn't get the hose out yesterday and will have to later. I can't cope with this continuous blue sky and sun which we have again today, that just doesn't happen here! :heehee: 17C
