I planted Buddleia 'Black Knight' last year and it hasn't grown an inch! Do I have the only garden in the country where they won't grow?

My excuse for a Buddleia as promised, it's about sixteen inches high and looking very sad. :heehee:

Your Globosa is well ahead of mine, JJ, as mine is still growing and around 6' in height but no flower buds as yet, although mine usually is later in the year before it does so.:dunno::snork:

Buddleja Globosa are also flowering here, here's one from a few weeks ago.. This is a wild self sown one on the heathland/woodland edge.

The globosa flowering must be nearly over here now.

:wow: Stephen, mine's not even close and you're not all that far from me. Like I said the Globosa is usually the last one to flower.:dunno::snork:

My guess on that one is this is a mature specimen, it has been around for maybe more than 10 years (it's about 10 metres high).. there are many smaller seedling around it, and further out. It may be because it is to large, and here they are completely evergreen, they don't lose leaves.. evergreen ones would flower earlier than any that lost leaves.

In their natural habitat, they are evergreen, they are a subtropical plant from Chile.

                    Does yours stay evergreen?

Aaah, that is the reason for the difference, Stephen. Not fact that it is a mature plant [mine is too] but because by the sound of it it's never been pruned as with most Buddleia. I prune all my Buddliea which is why mine is later than yours.....it did have me puzzled:doh::snork:

Gotcha, it would flower early being in the wild and unpruned.:snork:

I pruned mine early last year and didn't get any flowers on it that year, now it's a riot with them because of the lack of pruning I've done. Mine only about 6' high and nearly 3 years old.
