Heh, heh, in the flood of inane babbling that is FB is anyone going to notice?

I was a bit bemused when a flood of cheery GC posts came through on FB from Ziggy earlier, this explains everything.

Dunno, what should we do? Find videos of really cool bits of gardening and share them with all our friends? Monty thinning beetroot seedlings, maybe?

Can't help thinking the format is wrong. Why doesn't it just go with the flow like forums?

 

Have you seen what happens when you let a designer design a user interface?

A techy asks, what does the user need to see?

A designer asks, well nothing. They just do what they please and let someone else worry about how to make it actually work.

That's what happened with book face.

 

The first time I saw how it 'worked' I was amazed anybody used it. It's like some early demo version not fit to be used by the general public. If a friendlier version gets produced by the likes of MS or Google, facebook shares could become worthless.

 

So, not being a Techie, is there anything I can do to make it flow better?

Cleaned up what I could, seems I can only soft delete things on there. There was certainly one that was going to join.

We need to pop over there & keep it going in between downtimes, even if its only putting a link to an interesting thread

Possibly, but the Facebook company was recently valued and awarded the honour of being the most valuable company in the world, ever, so they can't be going far wrong.

One of the reasons that I mostly only post random insane rants on there is because they are masters of data profiling. If you post 'serious' stuff on there, they start forming very accurate profiles of you, which they then sell on to marketing companies. This is not a new concept. Most companies do this sort of thing, but Facebook has become one of the best at it.

You may have noticed how in the last year or two Google diversified quite suddenly and rapidly, making Google Drive, Docs, Mail, and their Facebook rival Google+. This was not just natural progression. It was desperation, because word in IT circles just before they did all that was that Google was set to loose its place at the centre of the internet, with Bookface set to take over almost all of the roles that Google was fulfilling at the time.
