I'm with loofah, it does sound like a horsefly bite. I'd get a topical cream from the chemist if it is

The bright purple ankle is still there and the swollen foot too, it's not really gone down, or spread.. either way I cannot get to my doctors so Ill have to go the local hospital, as it could have complications.

If it turns out it is a horsefly bite, im going to have to quit the allotment, because horseflies don't really move from their area, and they're not easily killed.

Ive never had a reaction like this before and Ive been bitten plenty of times by stuff.

Stephen, can your practice nurse not see you, if all the GP's are booked up? Or do you have a drop in centre? You may get a frosty reception at your local accident & emergency department if you turn up there without exhausting all other possibilities. What did your local Pharmacist advise you?

I agree with Yvonne. :blue thumb: It's not an A & E type of thing and the pharmacist should be the first call if you can't see the practice nurse. I have more faith in the practice nurses than the GPs and always ask to see them first - unless I know it's something the GP will need to look at. Even then, if you can't get a GP appointment you should go to the practice nurse and she will call a GP in if she can't deal with it.

Please Note:- When I refer to 'she' for a practice nurse it also includes both genders. :heehee:

On Merseyside we need all the help we can get.

Im still alive by the way.. the nurse (who was excellent which make a change, she was Chinese), said it was an adverse reaction to the nettle sting.. not an insect bite. She put an Iodine bandage on it, and said to come back if it gets worse.

That's good news, I'm sure you would have been gutted to have to consider giving up the allotment although I'm sure it wouldn't have come to that.
