Does anyone else plant like this?

Whenever I am planting a potted plant I always plant it in its pot and then when I am satisfied with its position I carefully pull out the pot tip out the plant and place it in the hole!! Doing it this way it is much easier to reposition the plant if you should want to.

I do that sometimes. Sometimes I will simply stand the potted plant where I think it should go and leave it there for a few days, not even sunk, while I decide.

I usually just shove them in though.

I'll place a plant in it's pot, walk away from it and look from a distance then plant it if it looks right, this is with perennials and shrubs though. With annuals I find a spot, dig a hole and plant.

 

Val no need to plant it all, just place the pot on the ground and move it about until you are happy.

 

Yes that's true but if I am planting it into a bigger tub like I did with my patio roses you would never believe how exactly in the middle it has to be!!! so keeping it in the pot is definitely the easier way.

Yes, but you don`t need to PLANT the pot, just place it until you are happy.lol lol I can`t help being odd, by the way.lol lol lol

 

I wish I'd have thought of this because I can never get the damn plant in the middle!!

 

I have lots of stuff that I keep in pots until it is in flower and then position it in the garden - seeing what else is in flower the same time, and whether the colours go together etc.

I still manage to plant tall things (once mature) in front of short things ...
