I thought that too, but mine were in a tunnel, within the frost free conservatory, which had supplemental Metal Halide light and heat enough to not fall below 10C I reckon ...

I've been thinking of doing something similar at the North end of my greenhouse. Got 2 cracked panes there ... replacing the whole "wall" with reflective coated Celotex, or similar, seems like an option.

        Thanks John :)

Those two sides are essentially dead, as the rear wall backs onto a 6ft fence, and the side wall backs onto the shed - my theory was that it would reflect light back in, and act as an insulator for the cold nights to limit the amount (and cost) of heating that I was having to run to keep stuff alive.

Its a foil backed bubble wrap insulation that I got from Wickes to put up in our outhouse before putting the plaster boards up when converting it into a utility room- the stuff in the greenhouse is leftovers from that job.

I've had a couple of these strange toms as well, I thought nothing of it and took one of the shoots off on each plant. I'm not growing any large toms though.

How did you all get your seed
Hopefully not from Toms that might have got the blight but survived last year ?
ie those that just got the Black Stems and not blight as we know it

                That's a thought Jack.

I don't have any split stems. Most of my seed was bought a year or two ago, I've only got a couple of new packets.

Mine were new, mostly from Nickys Nursery.

I didn't word that very well. What I should have said was that I have a truss, that has what looks like three trusses fused together...

:sofa:.... all a bit spooky. I think the yo yo temperatures and this persistent cold at night isn't doing toms much good.
9C either tonight or tomorrow night???? What's that all about...:gaah:

                        Hiya Jenny.

As I recall, last year was the same, if not cooler during June...

I think I have a "selective" memory Freddy and am inclined to forget the bad months of last year.
By the way, the Maskotkas are full of flower and a few toms are forming as well. Angelina's Big giants are not gonna be a threat to you serious tomato growers though..

                        Hiya Jenny.

I wouldn't call myself a serious grower. I pretty much do as everyone else does. Prepare the ground, plant them, water them, feed them. Obviously, I try to learn from my mistakes and experiences, don't we all:blue thumb: Having a greenhouse helps:)
