Brugmansias

Not really Victoria, its only been growing again for a couple of months or so, (due to cold spring),and I potted it on, so fresh compost to explore.
I think feeding is the answer to good growth.
I do wonder if you maybe get it a bit too hot down your way?

I like the doubles Wayne.

 

You jest surely, Pete ... We're only going back up to 30c again this weekend, 27.6c today and 23.5c now. Okay, another feed tomorrow.

 

Mine is looking a lot happier, now that it's been moved outside. Still a bit of mottling on the leaves, but the new leaves look healthy.

Keep doing what you are doing Freddy. Can't tell yet, but good signs that she is forking, and from here on she'll show signs of buds. Look out for sub equal growth on the leaves, basically meaning the leaf won't be symmetrical but uneven , like this.

This is a great sign that the Brugmansia is branching out, and from that, the promise of flower buds.

I spend a lot of time, searching for these signs whilst inspecting the troops. Keeps the enthusiasm going.

Hiya Wayne, thanks for the info Something that just occurred to me, do they prefer full sun, or partial shade?

 

I just popped out to have a look, and I have two leaves like that

 

Honest answer, some can take full sun, some not. Partial shade is the general rule.
I'd just put them in different places, see what they prefer.

Can i ask if this is normal please,lots of tiny leaves growing??

Do plants differ on flowering times? I have the 2 yellow ,1 has buds the other doesnt yet but it does have uneven leaves
And this white one is twice the size, looks a lot healthier but has no signs of flowering

I get that up the stems. They don't amount to much, but on plants that are a year or two old I get a bud break low down which then grows very vigorously - a bit like roses do.

They look quite small to be flowering anyway. Depends on whether a cutting was taken above the Y, but even so I find they don't flower "tiny" - although heat and decent day length may induce flowering, rather than just plant size, perhaps?

 

As Kristen says the small leaves bucnhing are perfectly normal. You can nip them off or grow them on for cuttings if you like?

As for the flowering, alot as Kristen says depends on where the cutting was taken from on the plant. I've had blooms bigger than the plant before.

But anyway they both look super healthy and you'll just have to watch with anticipation as all Brugmansias nutters do!! Just feed em with a weakened tomatao of fert feed !!! They'll love you for it.
