Lifted the first of my Arran Pilot new potatoes today. Plenty of tubers although they're mostly still quite small. They haven't had enough rain really, the soil around the roots was quite dry.

Bet they still taste good though.

 

Arran Pilot, my favourite spud Been digging them up for the last week or so. Not the heaviest cropper, but boy do they taste good

 

We grow them too as our preferred First Early, but Charlotte is the one we like best And Pink Fir Apple

Emptied one of my containers for my tea....not many but can't wait to eat them...haven't had an Arran Pilot in years (potato)

 

The rumours weren't true then?

Similar to mine, but pick and take them on a camping trip at this time of year and they soon start looking really sad. I really must remember to grow some so they can be hoicked out the ground, container and all so they can be kept moist and fresh for a few days.

 

Anyone picking peas yet?

Picked the first of my Early Onward peas this evening. I started them off in strips of plastic guttering in the greenhouse in March, germination was poor but enough came through to give me a short row, which are now producing a good few pods of fresh, juicy peas.

 

One or two Trunky only trouble is they don't seem to reach the plate
