Some of our Jerusalem Sage plants have just started to flower so the bees are now out in force :dbgrtmb:

I don't know the difference in the variety of bees but this one seems to have a rather long proboscis :rolleyespink:

They seem quite happy to climb inside with no chance of seeing what's going on around them. Mrs Shiney quite often strokes their furry bottoms without them taking any notice at all :heehee:

Hi Carl, I have Pentax K5, but because I like the old manual lenses [got 14 of them:hate-shocked::heehee:] I bought a 20 year old Tamron 28mm-70mm macro lens that I picked up for £16. That's the lens I tend to use for hand held shots whenever I wander into the garden and that's what you see.:snork:

Most of us know what a peacock butterfly looks like. In case anybody doesn't, here is the beauty:

Now I wonder how many of us know what its larvae look like. We went for a walk this morning and found lots of caterpillars on nettles, have a look at these monsters:

and a close look at one IMG_0548a.jpg

So next time you are out walking, keep a look out, you might find something very interesting indeed. I'm certainly going to keep my eye open to see if I can spot any chrysalises.
