What's Looking Good In July 2013

The Red "Hot" border. Still working on getting it "full" of plants, and things that are not Cerise, Orange or Pink!



Red Hot Poker ... I've got three of these, big plants, which are being binned by the "colour control management team" ... if anyone wants them?



Sambucus Black Beauty putting on a show

 

A slightly crumpled stem of Campanula "Kent Belle" - they will all be plump by eventide.

A Salvia purchased from an Open Gardens Scheme labelled "Picasso" but I can find no reference to it in nibor Robin's Salvias gallery.

Rose "Miss Alice"

The dear old rose that spans the kitchen window had an uncomfortable Winter/Spring and is showing her age now. Still a glorious colour and perfume,

Clem. "Pilu Little Duckling" flowering nicely now

And the first Dianthus "Diana". A lovely warm shade of coral.

And finally, Salvia "Penny's smile"

From today I have a lovely white rose that I grew from a cutting flowering for the first time


Variegated Philadelphus, also grown from a cutting and looking very good




A stunning 'daisy flowered' perennial with very stiff dark green glossy leaves




And an unusual creeping variegated Fuchsia with equally unusual but interesting little flowers

 

That's an odd looking fuchsia Bilbo - but actually quite fascinating. Love the whites!

Dunno about "creeping" but the flowers look like Fuchsia procumbens - presumably "variegata" if it is variegated.

 

Entrance to the Exotic Garden with the tree ferns (newly planted this Spring).


Sorry about the clear plastic tubes - I'm using those around shrubs (Fatsia in this case - bog-standard japonica, variegata and Spiders Web in this case) for the first few years to "Hurry them up" a bit.

Foreground banana is Ensete maurelii. Brugs on the left desperately in need of more moisture ...



Allium schubertii coming into flower - and looking reasonably exotic I think

 

It is! Sadly one of the more tender ones in my experience

 

Yes that's the one Kristen , creeping, prostrate, trailing are all words to describe it used by various suppliers though

 

Ooo love the variegated form Bilbo, I have the other unvariegated one very kindly sent to me by longk , I thought it'd get lost on the ground so its planted in a basket and hung from a tree where the flowers should be at eye level , starting to trail quite nicely too, can't wait for the flowers.
