Ah, shoot - nearly all of the Marmandes are like that - that is the bulk of my crop shot then!

On a brighter note, the maskotkas are doing well, although still annoyingly scruffy:

Mine are showing signs of magnesium deficiency, not having any Epsom salts lying about i'm trying to kill them by crushing up magnesium supplement tablets :)

Don't write them off just yet FC, wait till they ripen - some varieties do look like that till they turn red.

Thanks John - I hope they are one of those that starts off that way. I'll pop back out and see if I can get some more pics later in the hope that it might help with confirming yay or nay. :)

I'm hoping they are one of those that start green topped

Have you got a temp gauge in there FC? At the moment I am struggling to keep down temperatures in my greenhouse, I've put up some bamboo blinds to help cut both heat and sunlight, it's seems a bit converse but toms can get too much of a good thing :blue thumb:

I'd completely forgotten about 'Greenback', I'd better get some extra shading up methinks.

I got them off Freecycle Freddy. They are just draped over the south facing side of my greenhouse with a bit of string over the top to stop them blowing off:

The blinds have lowered the light level from around 70,000 lux down to 25,000 lux. The temp has dropped by a few degrees, it was getting up to 35 C on Saturday, then after I put up the blinds I've only had a max of 30 C.

                    Hello folks.

Something I noticed a couple of weeks ago. My 'Super Marmande' plants aren't growing as well as the rest of the plants. On the first two trusses I have several good sized toms with more fruits developing further up. Looking at the plants, I get the impression they're running out of steam, the stems being quite spindly, and still around 1ft to go before it reaches full height (greenhouse roof). Any thoughts?

I don't know why that is Freddy, maybe they need a bit more feed compared to the others. Do the leaves look more yellow?

                      Hiya John

The plants are otherwise looking ok, just a bit weedy. At the moment, there are six trusses, and I'm wondering that maybe with such large fruits, I should restrict the amount of trusses? Btw, they are getting fed twice a week.
