Not what I always thought of as Clary, although I think some nurseries sell it as such. It's Salvia var. turkestanica, comes in white, pink and lilac and is pretty perennial here.:) If anyone would like seed, just say the word!

As Simbad says, moisture is the key, rather than soil type. I nearly lost my plants when they were 'emigrated' from the UK pond to my first border here. They've picked up now that they're back in a pond, but are planted in ordinary, neutral-to-alkaline clay soil. Give them a go in your pond, K, go on, you won't regret it:)

Salvia Nemerosa Sensation Deep Blue, I grew these and a pink version from swapped seed for some reason I ended up with loads of pink and only one blue , I'll have to mark it for seed as really like this colour.

Not very goods photo I'm afraid. Thought I'd better take some photos of my Cardiocrinum in flower before they get fried! It has been so incredibly hot here (hottest I can ever remember) that the flowers on the Cardocinums are going brown round the edges and they aren't even fully out. Hell you have to wait about 4/5 years for them to flower and then the weather decides it's going to spoil the show. That said I'm no complaining because it is glorious and most of my plants think it is too. Apart from the nightly couple of hours watering I'd be happy with another couple of months of this. I'm pleased to say I don't think mine are going to flower. I bought bulbs this year and they were massive :blue thumb: but I have read that if they flower in Year 1, due to bulb size, they don't put down enough roots to do a proper job of flowering :) So next year will do me just fine ...

Probably a good thing Kristen as if it's as warm with you as it is here, the flowers wouldn't last long. It's pretty easy to tell when they are going to flower as they send up a massive cabour of a stem early into the growing season if they are going to flower otherwise they just produce leaves relatively low to the ground if that makes sense.Hopefully if the bulbs you bought were huge, you'll get humongous flowers next year, I'll look forward to seeing them.
