Wow here is me in the "frozen"north and my Lucifer will be flowering in about 2 to 3 days. I'm really surprised Shiney that I'm going to beat you to it!. Mind you that said it has been incredibly hot for at least the last 6 weeks and everything which was late has now caught up and might end up being early! My Kirengeshoma I noticed is not far off flowering and normally that doesn't flower until well into August. At this rate I'm not going to have much left to flower in about 3 weeks! Lovely photos Grannie Annie.

Beautiful flowers everyone and some great pictures too.

Sadly I don't think it's going to happen in my garden this year apart from the roses and poppies putting on a great display. The two tier bed in my back garden looks dismal it's still pretty much green.

 

Considering what you garden went through Sheal at the beginning of the year I think it is doing well. You have some quite amazing roses and the beds that you created are a good foundation for what will come.

 

Thanks Annie, I hope so. Like you I have arthritis and I don't know how much longer I will be able to spend time developing my front garden. A couple of hours a day doing the heavier work will finish me for the following twenty four hours, but it hasn't beaten me yet!

 

Good for you Sheal and it won't beat me either yet - it's just another blip in life.

altho I am often woken up in the night with the pain of my fingers atm a la this morning! I could well do with replacements as with my brilliant new hips but have a feeling replacement fingers wouldn't stand up to the pounding mine would get.

I have a lot of the no idea genus too!

 

You can add me to the list too! Right knee, neck, right shoulder and right ankle are all still giving me hell! Turns out that when my Dad said "be more careful or you'll pay for it later" he was right!

Arisaema tortuosum is the first (and with this heat probably the last) aroid to bloom.................


Nerium oleander is flourishing since I bought it...................


Streptocarpella was put out too early and caught a late light frost but has recovered well..............




My old Sollya heterophylla is finally in bloom after spending all but the worst of winter outdoors................


Penstemon digitalis "Huskers Red" is in bloom.................


None of them are happy since the house move though and are decidedly green..................

I'm excited after seeing this HsuH , I grew this this year as well, must be the RHS seed again ?, just been potting them on they're getting huge and really should be planted out but think I'll wait till this heat subsides a bit.

GA your alstromerias are lovely something I've never grown until now , just received some bare root ones from Hayloft Plants don't know if its normal for them to arrive as just a root this time of year but they're potted up and we'll see what happens, roots looked healthy enough and they were a bargain at 6 for £12 including postage.
