I have what appears to be a single Honey Bee trying to build a nest inside the roofing of my back porch. I often see her carrying bits of rolled up leaves and disappearing away into the holes. I'm a little concerned as he s quite aggressive. I tried to take photo with my phone which caused her to try and attack me ( I now have one very broken iPhone ). Unfortunately, she can't stay where she is and I would prefer not to have to resort to chemical warfare. Is there anyway I could give her the hint that she is not wanted?

    Hi Coolsox

It will be a leaf cutting bee [IMG]

They cause no harm and they are solitary , it will be making a tiny nest out of the leaves then it will lay one egg which will hatch later this year or early spring next year , it has no sting so cant harm you.

here is a link for you

Thanks Spruce, that does look like the one. I was aware it seemed to have a fuzzier underside than a typical honey bee.

That article doesn't seem to agree with you about the sting though!

To be fair, I don't mind the fact that it stings ( I keep scorpions and Tarantulas as pets!) but I didn't like the idea of a nest of them right outside my back door. Now I know that there us not going to be a heavy infestation of hem I'm happy to let it Bee.
