Well, I only have one with a red rash now, down from three - we ate the other two with our salad tonight, and they were gorgeous :dancy: - we had a direct comparison on the plate as the others were the green variety that Tesco are now pushing; my homegrown ones were softer fleshed, sweeter and juicier - all I need now is for a whole lot more to get a red rash so we don't have to eat any supermarket ones.

I've done it again! (accidentally planted cordon tomatoes in a window box). I thought Maskotka were a small bush variety suitable for window boxes, but the plants labelled 'Maskotka' growing in one of my window boxes are clearly all cordon tomatoes, so I've just removed the unknown plants that had got to two feet high without dividing and re-planted with Minibels.

I wonder where my Maskotka toms have got to?

I've hauled a few of the unripe marmandes off today as they have blossom end rot - only affected one or two fruits on a couple of plants - I know that overwatering is the likely cause, but would all fruits not have been affected if that was the case?

I thought it was irregular watering?

Could well be mate - but that is odd in itself, as I water everything around the same time each evening, and its only been one plant that has been affected. Hopefully now that the affected fruit have been whipped off it will put its energy into the remaining fruits and behave itself

                Hiya FC.

I find that watering isn't as straight forward as watering at the same time, come what may. I think one has to take into consideration the conditions and the rate of growth. I think that 'Swiss Tony' would say..."Growing Tomatoes is very much like making love to a beautiful woman, it takes patience, skill and a LOT of practice":heehee: Get me coat?

It was a shortened version of a well-known phrase...."I'll get my coat":)

Anyway, just been down the greenhouse, and I notice that one of my 'Super Marmande' is showing some colour:dancy: Pretty sure one of my outdoor toms (Ferline) has a bit of a tint too:)
