Sounds more like a fungal leaf problem, if it's not getting to the bulbs then maybe it's not too much of a problem?

Potash helps the bulbs ripen, as per the Johnson's instructions it should be applied in mid-August :dbgrtmb:

Not that I know of Freddy, I used Bayer Fruit and Veg Control when they were seedlings to prevent damping off but I'm a bit loathe to spray any of my veggies right now so close to eating them.

Maybe Bordeaux Mixture? I need to be making some up anyway for the outdoor toms pretty soon. Hmm, just thought about that...it might not be effective as a cure, more of a barrier?

No it won't work as a cure, once the plant is infected that's it. Bordeaux mixture will slow down the spread to adjacent plants though. Never used it myself on onions, but i can't see it causing any problems.

Measured mine last night, the plant that was 10" circumference on 1st July is now 15". There is another one that is 16" - so mine are definitely bulbing up now.

Yes Loli mine are Kelsae, I'm looking forward to eating them, I might even grow them again, but next time no faffing about with growlights and starting quite so early, I'll be happy with a two pounder!

After all the trials and tribulations I've endured this year, I did manage to salvage nine plants from the second re-plant and they're not doing too badly (merits of a well prepared onion bed?)
They won't be monsters I expect but maybe one or two will hit the 1KG mark.

Mine are Kelsae's, I grow them because my uncle used too and cannot any longer, so I'm keeping up the tradition PLUS they taste GREAT! :dancy:

                      Hello chums:)

I decided to measure one of mine that looks a good size. I measured it at 15":) Is there an equation that estimates weight?
As an aside, I reckon my Nettle brew is ready. Do I need to strain it off? Or is it ok as it is?
