Good afternoon all my friends,I had just returned home from tidying up the Roses at the GP's surgery, and there was a neighbour at my door who said your fence in on fire and the fire engine is on its way,I ran to the back garden and there were two 6 x 6ft panels well alight,I have a hose pipe on a reel on the wall and ran up the garden it took me about 10 minutes to put the fire out,and then the Firemen arrived ,but I told them it was out,two panels destroyed, they said that it was the 5th call on fencing fire of the day, caused by the heat.we then walked round the garden looking at the Roses and all had a cold drink(Irn-Bru of course) so all's well that ends well;)

I went down B and Q,s purchased two new panels and put them on the roof rack, where comments like"you got a nice sunshade there Woo and mind you don't take off Woo :heehee: ,got back home and have put the new panels up,painted one,:phew: will do the other one tomorrow, the fire has destroyed some plants and scorched a shrub ,just wondering if it can be saved :)

    Two new 6 x 6 ft Panels:blue thumb:

Oh no! It must be really hot in your neck of the woods Woo. Sorry about your fence panels and your poor plants. It's a good job you arrived home when you did or the whole fence might have gone up in smoke.

          Poor you Woo...:grphg:
and yours was the 5th call for ignited fencing today. That's seriously bad news -- some folks may have gone on holiday.
How can it self ignite like that?
          So glad you were around,
          Jenny

That's bad luck Woo. What's caused it though? Heat alone can't have done it. I can't think of anything with a flash point below about 50'C.

Blimey Woo, glad you were able to put it out before it did any more damage. You don't hang about with your repairs either :)

I'm glad all is well Woo, it could have been really nasty. I have wooden fencing but not panels, perhaps it would be a good idea to dampen them down now and again when watering the garden. :)

Good grief!!! :hate-shocked: Thank goodness it was contained quickly and no one was hurt. Sorry about your panels and shrub, woo :(

Hmm, 5th fencing fire of the day!?
Methinks the "heat" has caused some idle minds to play silly tricks as opposed to the heat being a direct cause. But, I suppose we'll never really know for certain, unless there is another spate and it gets investigated.

                      How's your shrub looking now?
Have you taken some cuttings from the healthier side just in case the whole shrub doesn't survive? Definitely the right time to cuttings, I believe, but it isn't clear from the photo's which shrub it is?

Well done, Fireman Woo :blue thumb:

Good morning "M" and many thanks for your friendly and kind comments my friend,no idle minds or what if's or just in case in Woo's nest M they are not allowed you know what they say"an idle mind is the devils workshop";)

We are eternal optimist's here ,the shrub will be OK,no need for cutting's,in fact one of the gardening judges asked me what that Bi-colored shrub was:heehee:

I think it was the gorgeous scent from the Mock Orange tall shrubs that had gone to the fireman's head;)

I am on the case and will investigate to see if the wood stain was to blame in anyway:)

I was so busy thinking of "idle youths/hotheads" that I never even considered it could be an issue with the wood stain. Interesting, woo.

Oh, and I wasn't suggesting *you* had "idle minds in your nest woo
