Not seen one cabbage white until today and there's suddenly loads of them....and do you know why that is?....because i planted my cabbages out yesterday...no worries Loli got it covered

Deadheaded today, cleaned the water feature, watered, debugged, gave the lawn a drink again, went to home base and picked up some lengths of bamboo, Henry bought a bird feeder and some nuts and mealy worm balls for it and a glass butterfly with his birthday money!

 

I've spent two hours watering, feeding and dead heading this evening. I've abandoned the garden during the day it's to hot.

 

I've been painting the fence. Still lots to do but seeing light at the end of the tunnel. I've got some plants to pot up but I can't decide what's going in which pot.

 

Still have fence to do and plants to repot also dealing with greenfly and these little mites dont know what they are or could they be black fly just declared war on them with soapy water. The shrub is a Philidelphus coronarius have not a clue where to put it. Its in a pot so far.

 

I've planted out a Clematis and put a couple of Roses in containers. The Tour de France coverage beckons at 2 pm, so nothing else will get done today, unless I have a spurt of energy later.

Busy day here. Just after breakfast, a chap turned up (in brand new grafting gloves that have never seen action) to take the 11 sacks of rubble I'd put on Freecycle, so I had to load up Gotilde and take them to his house (he turned up a little hatchback). Then back home in time for The Big Push. By about 2PM, after a bitter and fierce struggle, the Battle for Far End was approaching end game, with the tide of war shifting in my favour. Here we see the last of the heavy resistance (cut down tree branches and rotten timber) going up in smoke.




By 14:30, the fire was nearly done, so I put the lid on the bin, gave the surrounding area a serious soaking to help ensure containment, and went up to my dad's. There, we picked a load of strawberries, arranged supports for his peas and beans, and generally stood about.

Came home, and while wife did my tea, I went out with the strimmer and blitzed all the weeds at the far end of the garden. For the first time since we bought the place, we now have unrestricted access to all parts of the garden, including the far end.
