It started raining lightly at 4.10 a.m. and lasted half an hour. From then onwards we have had continual lightning and thunder but it remained 6 - 8 miles away and no rain.

At 6.05 it started to move towards us at 20 mph. The rain started again, lightly, at 6.26 and by 6.30 the storm was overhead. It's now 6.35 and very heavy rain is falling but the thunder seems to have disappeared.

It's now 6.50 and the rain has stopped and we haven't heard any thunder for 15 minutes. I hope the storm returns later as the garden will love it.

Distant rumblings and flashings awoke me at 1am and stayed for 30 minutes. No rain at all and it's sultry and cloudy this morning - 22.5C,

Jenny, I've never worked out what use midges and mozzies have in the scheme of things!

Heavy rain came back at 7.12 but the sky brightened up considerably. It lasted ten minutes and the bright sky remained - until 7.27. Then the sky went black and we now have more rain. :dbgrtmb:

No rain whatsoever yet. The Met Office forecast some in an hour's time, but if we don't get that there's no more forecast until Saturday. Cracks in the ground are now 2" wide.

Massive thunderstorms around 4:30 for an hour and the torrential rain started and it's been raining on and off since, at the moment chucking it down. Still very warm and muggy.
Butts full and overflowing and the garden is lapping it up.
Forecast for the rain to continue until afternoon.
    GG

Was woke up @ 5am with very loud thunder and lightning and heavy rain, that disappeared after 20 mins. It's starting again 20'c very dark outside and the little one is sat on the front door step storm watching. Mum says I wonder where he gets that from :snork:

A 5am thunderstorm woke me up, it's been raining quite heavily on and off all morning, but still warm. Apparently the thunder was all afternoon/evening yesterday? We flew by a FANTASTIC thunderstorm last night around 11pm BST, over north France. (Snuck over to Spain for a few days ;) )

Well that's rain stopped play and how. Massive thunderstorm and torrential downpour. Not sure my Lilies are going to survive the battering but hey not the end of the world. I just hope someone "upstairs" doesn't forget to turn the tap off as hate to think that's the end of our Summer.
