I'd definitely be interested in this one.
Not that far for me to travel and, having missed out on Shiney's big day, I'd love the chance to meet up with some GC members.

We would be interested if the date is clear in our diaries :blue thumb: . We get very booked up. :)

Will Giles is opening on Saturday afternoons in July and August this year, in addition to Sunday afternoon (until 20-Oct). 1pm - 5pm.

          East Ruston open 2pm - 5:30pm

Its 40 minutes drive between the two ... I reckon you would need to allow 1 hour at Will Giles and at least 2 hours at East Ruston ... so that's Will Giles 1-2pm, East Ruston 3-5:30pm ... so it hinges on being at Will's as his doors open :) ... East Ruston has a nice tea room ...

Could do the local nurseries in the Morning for those that are interested.

Alternative is to split the visits over two days for folk that would prefer to overnight?

For a route map CLICK HERE (I've pinpointed entrances to the various locations)

          A) Amulree Exotics Nursery
          B) Urban Jungle Nursery
          C) Will Giles exotic garden *
          D) East Ruston Old Vicarage

          * Note that the parking for Will Giles is in the car park at the back of Alan Boswell Group, and the entrance to Will Giles's garden is directly from that car park (in effect a back entrance to Will's garden).

With July almost ended, I'm guessing a date will be chosen in August?

August is going to be a tense busy month in the House of "M" so the sooner a date can be sorted the sooner I can plan my escape squeeze it in (if it doesn't clash).

It'll be hard to find a date that pleases everyone - hope it's not Bank Holiday Monday cos I'm going to the Lakes. I'm also going away in Sept so it'll be a miracle if it lands on a free weekend. How on earth are we going to decide?

How about setting it up as a simple poll, with all the Saturdays and Sundays until the end of August as voting options.
We could then all vote for the date(s) which best suit us and pick the date with most votes.
              Is that possible?

I'm working on a date when I will be going. If anyone else can make that date it would be lovely to meet you, and I'll [list here and] bring some spare plants for anyone that wants them. Its an annual (and often twice a year) event for me, so I'll do the same next year too :)

If anyone is up for it there is a guided morning tour by Alan Grey for £40 which includes a very good lunch and then you are free to wander around the garden all afternoon. I've done that a couple of times and thoroughly enjoyed it (and would be happy to do it again). Depends on how folk feel about spending 40 quid of course, and those events are mid week (dates left this year are 1st August and 5th September), although if we could put a group together I expect it could be arranged on a "just-for-us" date.

Good idea, Trunky. Will we be able to have multiple votes? We could extend it till the end of September as the Will Giles garden will certainly be good till then.

What about the Northern branch idea? We could end up with two meets so maximising the chances of people being able to attend one or t'other?
