Is it me or that variety that we are calling New Zealand is actually a brasilensis?
also , is it actually brasilensis one of the most hardy variety of cannas?????
according to some webside , brasilensis can be left outside with a mulch protection

I did notice Sal that Brasiliensis has the same flower as the New Zealand, its a stunning little Canna :)

Also noticed that Joolz's Tropical Yellow is the same a my dwarf know a Tenerife :), I bought the original from Wilkos last year and it only grew to about 18 inches, I grew this one from seed saved from that plant and again its flowering at just over a foot tall :)

It looks, to me, just like the seed you gave me for last season, and which I labelled "Sal's Thai" ... which I thought was seed you collected in Thailand ??

Can be done by pressing REPLY and then deleted the stuff you don't want to quote - like the old way :) Seems tedious now, but did it for years ... and still do it that way on other forums ... but I'm still instinctively highlighting and then wondering why QUOTE ME isn't appearing!!

RR says that Highlight & Quote will be back soon :)

Kristen , what you caling Sal thai is called canna "thai one on" and is a water cannas ,
what it look like the brasilenses is the one `I`ve collected this year in New Zealand ....
what I was told in New Zealand is that any foreigner plants will chance form and colors with the time ....so It can be that what I`ve collected wild was just a brasilenses .

Harvested my first Canna seed this year from C.limbata; the first one to flower this year. I collected about 30 seed from just half the pods, they've ripened very quickly this year, no doubt down to the hot weather :)

A question about Canna Cleopatra for anyone that grows it, do the suckers normally come up plain green and then show colour later?, mine has 4 suckers between 4 & 10 inches but they're all green leaved??
