    Hi all,
A week or two ago (can't remember) I out down some patch magic on the grass at the front and back. It started to sprout the other day and some of the sprouts are now about an inch long. The rest of the lawn is getting "uncomfortably long" as in, I really don't want to leave it much longer or it won't be green when I cut it. When can I cut it? It would be too difficult to avoid the patches. The mower is a basic flymo with metal blade, so I think does a bit of sucking too. Thanks.

Using a Flymo on these patches at the moment will just rip the grass out. On other mowers I would say adjust the mower cut higher so you would avoid cutting the patches. There's nothing you can do really but avoid them and if that means some of the grass round the patches has to stay longer for a while then that's all you can do. The only other solution is to change your mower. I wouldn't attempt to cut the patches before the grass is three to four inches high, even then you run the risk of the Flymo tearing them out, they are quite harsh mowers. Don't use a strimmer either as that will have the same effect.

Oh dear. That's a nightmare as I like to keep my grass rather short, for obvious reasons. Even if I go on holiday for 2 weeks the grass looks (to me) terrible after that first cut. I'll see what I can do.

I think I'm going to have to massively avoid the patches and cut the bits I've missed with scissors then! Haha

Whats your obvious reason ? I would not cut at less than 1 inch unless you have a something like a bowling green which I doubt if you are using patch magic.

by "short" I mean 2inches. It was getting to like 4inches.
I just cut it. Just in the nick of time. Didnt harm the patch magic bits.
