    Problem with new fixes: uploading photos.

    I'm having difficulty uploading pictures.

    I tried to upload a picture of my clematis "Royalty" tonight. It has been cropped, it has been "resized" to the smallest possible with my (basic) image editor:-

    "Dimensions": 640 x 480
    "Size": 240KB

    The "error" message gives no clue as to why it cannot be uploaded, it merely stated there was an error.

    I'm fairly certain my photo is within the limits sizewise and cannot work out why I'm getting an error?

    Also, drag and drop doesn't solve the issue.

    If I try and crop the photo any further, at best, I will only get the centre of the flower (no petals) and, at worst, I will only be able to post a stamen!

    :scratch:

    :help:

        Well, at the moment I think we should keep it simple and rely on the goodwill donations that people give, the level of which obviously, rises and lowers unpredictably. Donations do fuel the site and obviously come from regulars who really appreciate GC and know it's value to them.
        I think talk of a subscription might be premature to say the least and such things would be up to the Webmaster to consider.

          I am on my iPod ATM

          but can someone try uploading a jpeg of the size M mention?

          it should be perfectly fine size wise.

            I'm neither suggesting it, nor discounting it. I'm merely stating how revenue is generated for one other site (amongst the infinite!) on the web ;)

            As I stated: it's a complex issue.

                  If M was able to attach the problem file to a Conversation so that another User could attempt Uploading it would be helpful. I'm sure that I've read somewhere that can be done, but not on GC as it's either a permissions thing, an Add On GC doesn't have, or I'm mistaken.

                  Can it be done?

                  Ok, here goes ...

                  ... nah: no show! The error message states:

                  "There was a problem uploading your file

                  CIMG0023 (593x378).jpeg "

                  I've capture a screen shot, pasted it in Word, saved it as a PDF and will now try and upload the PDF ....

                  So far: "Testing Pix GC. pdf is showing as an uploaded file ... now to "Post Reply" and see what happens ...

                  NB: the PDF uploaded ok.

                    Another problem I've found today Richard.
                    I started a post in the "What jobs are we doing in the garden today" and I went into Google( favourites) to get a piccie of a product I use, then I arrowed back to paste it in the post and the post had disappeared. I gave up after the 3rd attempt,
                    Jenny
