Just noticed that on threads that I have started there is a little "Thread Tools" option at the top of page, which lets me edit the Thread Title. Don't think that was there before, and will help if I make a Boo-Boo :)

Kristen, I've just downloaded an update to my camera's photo storing software and it has a resizing facility. so I'm going to try it.

I'll upload it in a minute but it has asked me where I want to store it so I've said 'In the same place'. That has now put the second (new) picture alongside the original. I presume it won't affect anything if I delete it after I've posted it (unlike when I was using Photobucket).

It took 10 seconds to upload but I didn't check how long it takes to resize.

      P1170025_1.JPG

I'll try it again when I have something to upload and see how long it takes. :blue thumb:

Just to double check: You still have the original, big, file plus also a differently named file which is smaller?

I ask because "in the same place" suggests that it might overwrite the original, high quality, image file with the new, smaller, one - which would not be good.

personally I would use a specific folder for the smaller ones you are going to upload - "Pictures_for_Upload" or similar. That way you can jsut delete everything in that folder periodically, rather than having to pick through small files in the same folder as big ones - and potentially delete the wrong one :(

Correct. Once it's upload to GC (or anywhere else) there is a physical copy there, so you no longer need to keep a copy - best you just hang on to the original, high quality, image in case you want to make another cropped / resized version from it.

Hopefully clear as mud?! if not pls ask for any clarification you need.

Thanks, didn't spot that as I rarely go back to threads I've initiated, but being able to change the title (even after subsequent postings) will be a great boon, not just when spotting that immediate mistake, but also for when things change shortly (or longer) after posting.

Yes, it's clear and I haven't overwritten anything :blue thumb:

I already have a folder for uploaded files so I'll continue to use it :dbgrtmb:

        Thanks for your help :)

I'm having more of a major problem (picture posting sorted now :blue thumb:) because when I'm typing in this edit box the appearance of the letters is lagging a long way behind my typing. It can still be adding the letters to the screen long after I've finished typing - anything up to four or five words behind time.

It's extremely off-putting as I don't know whether it's going to print the words I'm typing! Sometimes it doesn't. It's very frustrating and and apart from slowing me down it breaks the train of thought. It doesn't happen on anything else.

<--------- Does anybody else keep getting a space character automatically inserted on the line immediately beneath a quote?

OK, I can just keep backspacing them out but it is a bug.

          quote space.png

EDIT: But the space disappears on posting! And the need to click the Post Reply button twice problem has now gone away (been fixed?).

I'm building a website at present (its what I do ....). I have a particular page on that where sometimes I have to press a button twice. I have no idea why, and all pages are built to a template so as far as I am concerned its not different to any other page. I have absolutely no idea why that is, and I'm almost certain that it is no different to any other ... so I guess its just possible that its a browser bug or something external and nothing to do with the site.

Might not be anything to do with that either :(

Perhaps click it more slowly (given that we know it is faulty for you) bit like a light switch that is on the blink. For example: if you put the mouse over the POST REPLY button it should change colour and then if you click-and-hold the mouse button it will change colour again, then when you release it all the buttons will change colour and then it is definitely clicked! If you don't get any of the colour changes then you can assume it probably hasn't heard you :) and you are probably going to need to press it again. I reckon you can do that in not-very-long, compared to the length of my explanation, but for me the hard bit would be remembering to slow-click it each time ... until I found it hadn't worked of course!

The button definitely 'fades out' when pressed the first time (as if it is listening to me) but, after a few seconds, it then reverts to bold once again. The second time I clink, it 'fades out' for a split second and then posts the reply.

            There you go :)

If it looks different between when it works and when not (with "slow clicking") then that might save you having to wait-and-see-what-happens. Only as a work around until a bright spark comes up with a proper solution :)
