FC, those long bananas are looking a bit green :heehee:.

I've started doing the clearing of our wild area as all the seeds have set. That means having to cut down about 5,000 sq ft of 3ft+ high grass. Mrs Shiney has been telling me off because the grass seeds are drifting everywhere (before the cutting). I've also been working my way through some of the veggie/wild patch area and digging out the weeds and grass. No sooner do I get some done, Mrs Shiney is behind me planting some of the flowers that are getting too leggy in pots in the nursery bed.

Yesterday I cut the high laurel hedge down one side of the garden. It's about 150ft long and 10ft high. It's still 150ft long :heehee: but a lot thinner and now only 7ft high. I've left all the picking up and carting away for Mrs S as I'm not able to bend and pick things up. (That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.) The job I find most difficult after all that is winding up the 300ft of electrical cable afterwards as I'm already shattered by then. :phew: :snork:

It's already too hot today to do any more work so I think I'll harvest the runnerbeans. They've now really got going and I'm picking about 3lb a day with it starting to increase each day. By next week I hope to be picking 10lb a day. :blue thumb:

Today I watered, cut the lawn, deadheaded again, staked and weeded. I also gave the fences on the drive another coat of black.

As soon as it gets late enough to start mowing I'll carry on with getting some of the last 4,000 sq ft of this to cut

Good luck Shiney. I am going to tackle my rear lawn which to my shame I haven't done for a
few weeks so seeing how much you have to do has made me feel better about the tiny patch I have to mow :blue thumb:

Just need the rain to hold off until after the 9am watershed (no pun intended) It's looking imminent though.

I haven't got around to it yet as we've had 90 minutes of thunderstorms. The sky is still banging around and the rain coming down quite hard, but the sun keeps breaking through every so often.

Mowing will have to wait for another day.

Plenty of watering and lots of dead heading.
Potted into a bigger pot the hedychium spicatum
Banana needs doing tomorrow again but need some MORE compost
Looking through the salvia thread to find a long flowering blue salvia for next year too

I've chanced the weather and finished painting the fence/posts/base panels down the front of the drive  It's held off raining so far but am hoping if we do have a shower it will be a quick one and so do less damage. Plus it's quite windy which will help everything dry a bit quicker.

I am going to top up the narrow gap at the bottom with compost and plant some seeds to give it a bit of colour. Will start a new thread for ideas.

That's about a zillion fence panels painted, plus double drive gates. Only two and a half down the drive to do and a few which are hidden behind the garage/greenhouse which I can do as and when.

Yesterday I got some tidying up done which put another ten barrow loads of stuff on the bonfire.

This morning I cut back some of the ivy on the west wall of the house and this afternoon I started on cutting down the wild area. Got half of it done now :blue thumb:

Luckily the forecast showers didn't materialise so I've been out painting the fence again. I've only got two left to do :dancy: which are both in a narrow strip behind the greenhouse so I'm going to have to wedge myself in there to get them done tomorrow. Ain't half got a bad back now and my right hamstring is feeling a bit stretched from bending over.
