Hi, our pumpkin is finally ready and cut it off the vine this morning. Now i need to preserve it. I have read that you should wash with one part bleach and 9 parts water first then store in a cool dry place, does anyone know if this sounds right. I still have another one growing but its not ready just yet.

Richard360, my other pumpkin has also slowed down the last week or two but still a good size so far but the one above that we cut off this morning hasn't grown in a couple of weeks and the leaves were all wilting so after doing the nail test and tapping it to make sure it was hollow we decided we should take it off and try to preserve it.

I finally have female flowers on a couple of my AG plants and growth looks healthy. I'll let Mother Nature do the work for me and pollinate them...no point in interfering...she knows what she's doing!

      Steve...:)

Just leave it in the sun for a couple of weeks to mature, then inside to a cool dry place.

Here's my patch, there are two plants in there. One is from @Steve R 's seed he sent me a couple of years ago, the other is Atlantic Giant:

Both plants have set a baby fruit, they are very small right now:

I've since slid a paving slab underneath the fruit :)

is this the return of the wine bottle collection JWK? lol

I just weighed my biggest pumpkin coz it looks like it has slowed right down (I want to compare todays weight to what it ways in a few days to confirm its still growing), its just under 2kg, 1.920kg.

I now have 4 that are fertilised.

Be careful handling it too much Alan, it's easy to bruise the skin and let the pests get at it. There is a link somewhere that gives an accurate estimation of weight by taking a couple of measurements, I'll try and find it.

Hmmm, some of those links are broken now, the OTT method seems to be OK as far as I can see.

Down to one plant now, with three fruits on. One is larger than the others but might give it a week or two before giving the others the chop:
