My plants have hit the apex of my greenhouse, I've stopped one or two of them and am training others down the other side:

They are not ripening very quickly, we have been away for a week and I only picked a handful on our return. The outdoor plants have produced the same amount of ripe fruit from half the number of plants, I reckon it has been too hot for them in the greenhouse.

I agree with you John, my outside toms are doing much better than the greenhouse ones, cucumbers too for that matter!

That's interesting, may be it's a north/south divide thing. Mine are the other way round, my greenhouse toms are loaded with fruit and next to nothing on the outside ones.

All my toms are outside = got lots and lots of fruit - but nothing ripe yet - have only had 3 ripe toms off the garden pearls (cherries) so far

                My outdoor Maskotkas are loaded with fruit, ripening at a nice pace (only just outstripping usage), whereas my outdoor Ailsa Craigs aren't really doing much; my outdoor Millefleur seem to be doing very little (loaded with abundant trusses, but setting fruit very slowly indeed), and my indoor Marmande are starting to ripen (had three or four off them now);

A lot of the outdoor ones seem to have the greenback problem, probably due to the 30ยบ+ temperatures that we had for a while; some of the indoor ones have had blossom end rot, but thankfully not many.

I have a feeling that I am going to have a different problem at the end of the season this year than I had last year though - last year it was loads of unripened fruits which eventually ended up as chutney; this year, I think its going to be everything ripening all together.

I will try to get some photos later of some of my babies.

OK, I was wrong - supply is now well outstripping demand. As I have been working double shifts since Thursday, I hadn't really seen the garden properly until I got out there this morning - when I did, I ended up harvesting quite a lot:

                  IMAG0450.jpg

The green fellow fell of while I was shuffling things about, but as its already gone translucent, I am hopeful that it might ripen indoors.

Most of them are Jenny - there are a couple of Faworyt in there that came from a wee runt of a plant that decided to give one truss of small tomatoes (not the big beef tomatoes that they should be).

I've added it to the spreadsheet Sheal and updated the list at post #1

NB: The new forum software now allows more characters per post so I've managed to get the full list back into post #1

Thanks John. :) I've just had a read through the list, there's certainly a big assortment on there, many of which I've not heard of.

Come on all you tomato growers! Let's see some pics and comments on the more unusual ones that are being grown please.

                              OK Sheal, here we go:
@Scrungee I think we need to have a chat about the tomato seeds that you sent me.
                              1) no problem here - 3 fine Red Robins that will be turning soon I reckon
                              P1030368.JPG

                              2) I am sure these are Sungolds. Will they get any bigger or go more orange or are they ready to pick?
                              P1030369.JPG

                              3) promise you Scrungee, this was in the Sungold packet. I thought as it grew up that it didn't look "right" but like a nutter, I put it in the window box with the Maskotkas. It's one of those :sofa: nightmare monsters that give me the eebeebjeebies. What on earth have you sent me???

@Jenny namaste I can't tell the precise colour of the Sungolds from that pic, but it should be a golden colour when ripe and when precisely when to pic can be a matter of personal taste as to how much acidity you want left to go with all that sweetness.

The Sungolds were in a pack sent direct from T&M.
