How can I tell if my carrots are ready for picking?!

    Our carrots 'fanged' last year due to manure being dug in the autumn before and so hadn't rottted down enough. This year the foliage is twice as tall (about 25cm) so we are hoping they are properly formed as the sandy soil is ideal. May dig one up tomorrow just to see how they are getting on.

    Can't wait to have them tmor, they smelled divine when I pulled them up!

      Thats what they smell like to the Carrot Fly too:yikes:

      Lol! I pulled them, scrubbed them and put them in the fridge.... I'm assuming they will be safe from flies?!

        Yep, carrot fly don't like fridges or heights :biggrin:

          The carrots are cooking in my slow cooker as we post! Along with a bunch of green beans from my garden. Mmmm mmm !
