I started this thread and I'm still without a bread maker, the one that was given to me I binned. It wasn't working properly and I could only have bread baked one way......under done.

 

I'm surprised at you, Sheal! In your shoes I would have kept it and still used it for the "dough" setting (finishing it off in the oven: well, if the oven was on anyway, cooking other things - fuel economy and all that )

You say that, FC, but the bread machine I bought was a never-heard-of-before brand, cost less than £15 in a Wilko's sale, back in 2005 and is still churning out great results. I think a Panny costs way more than that?

 

Only far better looking and with far more refined manners and demeanour than Fanny C

FC, I can't treat myself to anything at the moment, no income, no budget I'm afraid! I scraped around to find the cash for new secateurs this last week.

"M" you're forgetting I hate cooking, I wasn't prepared to keep the machine for half the job done!

 

Good point: well presented! But, technically (aka splitting hairs here ) it still wouldn't constitute 'cooking'. More of a slap-in-machine; slap-it-out-again; pop-in-oven-wait ... voila! But, yes, it's the counter/cupboard space issue when all said and done (dust gathering monstrosity/waste of space: ditch it!

 

We are on our second Panny as a friend who only used hers a couple of times asked me if I wanted it so as ours was looking a bit worse for wear said yes straight away on the condition she never brought me a Xmas prezzie last year to pay for it.

We love our breadmaker,or should I say Mr Kandy loves ours as it is a gadget he can play with so I am happy to eat what the machine makes after he has weighed out all the ingredients and pressed all the buttonsWe/he has never made anything too fancy in it and the only thing about it I don't like is the fact that the bread dries out too quick but at least it isn't full of all those preservatives that the shop bought ones are full of
