Everyone else's trusses look longer and more heavily fruited than mine? Taking Freddy's post as an example, his toms are nice and evenly spaced along the trusses, and plenty of them - have I missed a trick somewhere?

Freddy......it sounds like they're going to do you proud this year, fingers crossed. :)

FC.......A lot depends on the type of tomato grown, some of mine look like Freddy's and others are more random.

I think you're right there Sheal. The ones visible in my pic are 'Sungold'. The ones out of shot are of different varieties, and are much less....impressive.

My tomatos seem to be taking ages to ripen this year, must be a month or some I've been staring at them and nothing happening yet. :gaah:

Put some Banana skins (or another source of Ethylene) near them?

(Probably a lousy idea if they are outdoors ...)

I am thinking the early fruit set on my garden pearls failed as I have no ripe ones yet on any of them - thought it might have been me putting them out too early - but it is encouraging to know that all you more experienced tomato growers are having the same problem. :dbgrtmb:

In saying that, there are lots more fruit on the trusses (especially on the beef and moneymakers as I religiously removed the "robbers" this year). I always have curled leaves growing outside - which I now know is weather induced (either too hot or too cold).

Here is my first crop this year - a few peppers - some jalapenos (all of which I picked too early - but couldnt wait) and some Fresno - the Jals and Fresnos were made into poppers last night. Fresnos are quite hot too - more than I expected. The tomato has dried marks though - as do many of them - maybe down to me not watering properly (before I got trays for the pots as the water just ran out the bottom)

A fine handsome harvest Sumbody. That tomato looks as though it's flavour will have "character",

Are the biggies Marmandes FC? And the scruffians ( Polish street urchins) your Maskotkas?
A harvest that you put so much into at the beginning and deserve to reap now,

They are indeed Jenny :) The four on the very far left are the first of the Ailsa Craigs (yet to be tasted); the only ones we are waiting for now are the millefleur, but I reckon its going to be a few weeks yet for them

Had a couple of gardeners delight ripen, tasted well lush! Harbingers starting to ripen and some of my outside "bigguns" are going opaque. Pleasantly surprised with my Unknown Yankee Cherries, not as prolific as Gardeners Delight but slightly larger fruit.

I'll be attempting to bring more seed over from stateside next year/ later this year, visit TotallyTomatoes.com, anything attracting your interest, PM me and I'll see what I can do, no promises but I'll try ( at cost, I'll not charge a penny other than cost)
