I just reviewed a posting that John made, and it looks like it's time to start applying some Potash, so I'll start giving them some tomato feed shortly:)

Well, I'm out - after my spring onions took a pasting from the dog the other day, my onions also took a similar pasting the day after :wallbanging:

The three 'landscapers' working next door obviously managed to wind the dog up sufficiently to have him jumping and pacing all over the place. Ho Hum

Blimey, another one bites the dust! Sorry to hear that F/C.
As one or two have already said, I too won't be doing this again, too stressful and expensive! Maybe Leeks next year?:)

Funny enough, my leeks are coming along lovely :) They won't ever be all that deep as they are in a reusable growback, so the blanched end might not be as big as some others, but, they are growing steadily and currently look to be the healthiest thing I am growing!

I can "taste" in my mind FC, a delicious bowl of your leek and potato soup this Autumn. I'm going to add a tablespoon of bread sauce in mine as an experiment.
Cheers to your leeks my friend :ccheers:

I know and understand while some of you are going to give up on onion growing, they are cheaper than chips in the supermarket afterall BUT nothing compares to a rump steak and Kelsae onion sandwich, sorry, supermarket onions suck in comparison, I'll always grow my own, even if just 1 row or three! :)

Don't find anything that cheap in the veg aisle of the supermarket any more, even chips

Oh yes, you can't beat the flavour of a Kelsae, even the one that broke my foot.
Just the right size to go with a ring of Pineapple in a burger too.

I won't be giving up on Onion growing, sorry if I gave that impression. I just won't be going to all the trouble of trying to break any records again:)

As an aside, those Long Red Florence you sent me are looking good:blue thumb:
