Ellen that's the reason so many Eagle Owls are here now, with a owl it's best to imprint them or many think,my birds aren't .
Imprinting makes it easier, you get it at about 10 days and he or she think you are like them and will do almost anything for you but once they become sexually mature guess who they want to breed with.
A big owl trying to mate with your head with big claws,so what happens off to the moors and release, which is against the law.

    Hi Roy

This I would love to take up as a hobby

I have been up to Jemima Parry -Jones place in Gloucester lots of times over the years and find it all fascinating, Harris Hawks being my favourites as you can keep them in pairs , occasional the other side of the river where I live two guys have HH the birds go crazy especially the magpies, it would be trusting someone to feed when I am away that has put me off, lots of places to fly where I live though , I would deffo do a weekend course to get more experience.

I do have a pair of wild Peregrines in the area, and I think the baby of them has been chasing the seagull chicks who have just started flying but the seagull parents soon sort out any nonsense , the noise out of all of them is loud as seagulls all come from nowhere to see what's happening

I've had six Harris in the air together,me and friends I should say only one pair quarrelled, they are known as the wolves of the air because they live in family groups and hunt together, the smaller males go onto the ground and go into the shrub and flush out the rabbits for the larger female to swoop down and catch.

It's so sad. They're a commitment, just the same as a cat or a dog, or even a child! Not sure I'd like one thinking I'm a sure thing though! ;)

Nothing more fascinating than a bird of prey.

Owls are a very pretty species, I have always been in awe if them, very graceful birds.

Cracking photos, and Ellen, you look gorge in that one. Twit twoo..............
