        Thanks Sheal. I'm quietly impressed by "Generous Gardener" as it's only about six inches high after obviously being pruned severely and bunged in the Bargain Corner of the Country Garden Plant Nursery. It's flowering like mad and yet should really be about 5' tall and 4' wide, I have to find a nice spot for it.:snork:

          Can you find a spot at all in your garden! :heehee:

          I'm always wary of pale coloured roses, when the blooms start to fade or the rain does it's worst they tend to look drab and scruffy.

          I've got one or two places in mind where I want to change the character of a border although it's a kind of domino situation because I have to move other plants and then try to find places for them:dunno::snork:
          I find the white or pale coloured roses the best of all, I don't mind if they fade and look drab and scruffy as I just dead head them!!:snork:

                        Thank you, Jenny :)

                        Yes it is a beautiful rose and a resident one - so I can't claim any credit for choosing it! - which is why I am so thrilled (and thanks to certain GC members for their support) that it has "risen from the ashes" :love30:

                        Not only does this guy bring colour, a delicate fragrance and joy in the summer, but it was also blooming (yes, blooming!) when we had snow on the ground. So, a real harder worker is Just Joey :dbgrtmb:

                            You all know that my roses are in there first year. I took a gamble and decided not to treat them this year with Rose Clear, I just wanted to see how they performed regarding soil type and weather conditions here. Well, unusually we've had a good summer and they've stayed clear of black spot until closer inspection today. I've found some on just a few leaves and that is probably down to the on off wet weather we've had here over the last couple of weeks. I've removed the leaves and binned them, not on the compost heap. As autumn is already closing in I won't bother spraying this year and will see what next year brings. If, as I suspect, the island will be back to it's usual high rainfall summer for next year it looks like they will need the Rose Clear, time will tell. :)

                              @wiseowl ,
                              I can't find the original thread but last Autumn you were showing us the Doctor's surgery roses and showing how you would prune the mature ones. Do you remember?
                              How are they this season please?
