It is very sad and tugs at the heartstrings Val. But it makes me so humbly thankful for the good fortune in my own life that I KNOW Folly Mon would wish me to have . He has a heart of gold that weighs a ton,

        You are most welcome :)

It was not my place to divulge a confidence in earlier updates (nor would I dream of it!). However, in this instance, FM gave me permission to explain what has been behind him, and with him, for the past few months and the near future.

I know how much all your thoughts will mean to him xMx

How sad for one family to have so many problems, it's hard to imagine the sadness they must be feeling - please pass on our thoughts.

            :):)
Aww, Val: if it is a depressing read, just imagine how depressing it must be to actually live it! :grphg:

FM has been living this for a few months. He also has the added challenge of trying to overcome the "depressing" side of it vs his addiction to alcohol (as a means of dealing with it!).

Thankfully, you have a choice over what you read and what/how you choose to respond to it: yet, without any, apparent, anxiety over how *tempting* that may be in the face of addiction/life stresses.

You are blessed :grphg: Not everyone is equally so!

Jenny is most accurate: FM has a heart of gold - even IN the face of adversity, he wanted members to appreciate he cannot give his time to GC, yet you all remain firmly in his thoughts (despite enduring these scenarios for a few months now).

If anything, *I* am to blame for any perceived "depressing" post.
I have known of most of his issues for a few months now; yet, I would never break a confidence and post about them in detail. Nor do I harass him with regular communications - I merely remind him from time to time that he is in *my* thoughts and in *my* heart.

He only mentioned to me yesterday that he is comfortable with me explaining his circumstances. I respect that and posted this morning, after careful consideration.

So, do please aim any negative comments *my* way! But not *his* way (he has far bigger things to focus on than forum semantics) ;)

If my post has "depressed" you, I do apologise: it was neither intended, nor targeted ;) My intention was merely to "inform" those who held a genuine concern for FM :)

I am blessed!!!!!!! believe me you have no idea what I have had to put up with in my life, you only know what I choose to tell you. I come on the forum for a bit of R & R and quite honestly can do without reading this stuff I only read it thinking it might be happy news.
I will not be reading any more of the 'updates' my own life is quite enough to handle thank you!!!!:frown:

How can you have a Hernia on hiatus? I've never heard of something like that before.

I hope he pulls through this tough time, whatever the outcome maybe. Even it is the worst, there will be an end to it. It makes you realise how even though your life is in a mess there is always someone worse of than you and I take my hat off to those people who can cope with that.

I did apologise if my thread regarding Folly Mon inadvertently upset you, @Val.. and can only reiterate there was no intention to upset you - or anyone for that matter.

There is no "body language" evident on a written forum; no subtle clues, that we use in our visual contact with people to indicate a faux pas, or a sensitive subject, or if someone is finding a subject uncomfortable. As you have highlighted, we only know one another from what one chooses to post. That makes it very difficult to second guess if a thread, or a post, will cause upset to another member, unless others are aware of the issues which upset them.
However, unlike a real time conversation where someone may make a faux pas and no one sees it coming, on this forum there are a couple of ways where you can get the gist of a thread/post, which may help you avoid threads which may have the potential to upset you.

                      1) If you hover your cursor over the thread title - before clicking on it - the first few lines of that thread will appear. This would give you a snippet of what the thread is about (beyond the mere title). In the case of this particular thread, it shows sufficient to note that his brother is due an operation - that in itself could be a hint that it may not be a happy-clappy post?

                      2) Using the "Spy" facility gives a glimpse of the first few lines of the most recent posts (not sure precisely how many posts, maybe 15?) that can also be an indication of the direction of the thread concerned. In this particular thread, it would have shown either woo's comment about being in his thoughts, or even, FC's comment "It never rains but it pours" - again, an indication/hint that it may not be a happy-clappy post?

Used together, this may be a way for you to avoid threads/posts which would not fit in with your particular needs/reasons for visiting GC and prevent you viewing threads which may have the potential to upset you on a personal level?

I'm sorry you are hurting @Val.. :grphg:

It's not a 'hernia on hiatus', it's a Hiatus Hernia - it would appear, in FM's brother's case, to be the worst form and has affected his lung and a delicate operation is required.
