I know it's one of those plants you either love or loath. I love it because of the dainty flowers which have gorgeous perfume. While my patch looks very healthy I didn't get many flowers this year and never really have. The patch is in semi shade, does it flower better in full sun? Certainly this year there was no lack of sunshine but the results were pretty much the same as normal ie not a lot of flowers!

Were they under water during you flood?

Edit: Ah ... "never ready have had" ... it won't be the flood then!!

Not that I know of, it wants to be in part-shade to full-shade I think.

Hmm thanks Kristen, I didn't think sun would be the problem of lack of flowers and yer right I can't blame the flood either as the LOV weren't anywhere near my lake. I've spent about the last 5 hours moving some of it to another shadier spot and will NOT be pleased if flowering doesn't improve:huh:

I think that LOV is one of those plants that you don't cultivate - either it will or it won't! I spent years trying to get it to take, but since moving here I'm over run with it! Particularly in partially shaded spots. I think that I'm correct in saying that it likes to be reasonably moist at all times, even when dormant.

My auntie had a load of LOV by her back door, and the smell was incredible - - one of those smells from childhood.....
