Don't like Runners that much but I will eat them.

The waterbridge ones are great, wonder how Loofah's getting on in Italy?

Growing Bridgwater(French ) and runner bean Polestar - as advised by shiney. Both are doing very well and taste like very nice beans. Sorry for being a bit thick but what exactly is the difference between French and Runner beans
Zigs as Loofahs not posted in for advice , all must be going well :snork:

I keep hearing/reading of these fabulous Bridgewater beans. What's so good about them? Should they be on my list next year? I'm not doing so well on the beans front so far.

Dave you are not allowed to grow Bridgwater beans until you can spell them correctly

Runners are flat sided and have a coarse skin. French are thin, pencil shaped and smooth skinned and in my opinion a far better crop to grow, particularly if you grow the climbing variety as you can get a big crop in a small space.

Slugs got all my Runners, Climbing French Beans have produced well. I've managed to freeze about 5 Kilos, on their last legs now, so I'm letting them be and will allow them to ripen for seed collection for next year. :)

Nice crop Zigs. Do we get a taste test review from you? What kind are those French ones?

I grew Vibel french beans this year, absolutely awful, tough, stringy and horrible taste. Pulled them out. Be going back to Slenderette which I had a great tasty crop from last year.

p.s. anyone can any recommendations for a good pencil bean ?

                        Cheers
                        GG
