We are clearing her house which has been sold ( subject to contract) and I had a wander in the garden and discovered this. Had been neglected, no pruning and had produced one tall flower stem . Plenty of cutting material so I brought quite a few home in very damp kitchen towel. I have done some as cuttings and some in a ceramic vase to get stems to root first.
I would be grateful if you can give it a name please,

    thank you,

It looks like Thalia to me, but that's not hardy so wouldn't survive over-winter outdoors.

This fuchsia has been there for a few years I think JWK. Location is Reading so the winters have been quite cold,

        Hi Jens

I agree with JWK with the variety SS I never thought of that one call me fickle  , it must of been growing in a very well sheltered spot and very well drained , hope it roots for you

No care needed once the plant has grown a bit (ie; plant out in the spring). It can be rather thuggish actually!

            Hi Jens

A good thick mulch with bark for the winter will protect the roots if we have a bad winter , but I wouldn't plant out till spring it won't be big enough to survive.

Here's a piccie of 3 Phygelius rectus cuttings that I put under a plastic cloche on 23/8/2013. Took the cover off today and am chuffed to bits - they look GOOD!
One is coming your way @fat controller ..:dbgrtmb:

I'll give them a month to get acclimatised - out side of their GH and then divide them up to plant up for Winter . I will wrap one in cling film, encaseit in a loo roll tube and post it to you in a Polybag,
                    simples,
                    Jenny

Champion :dancy: - I'll overwinter it in with my geraniums and other fuchsias in the porch (or on the staircase windowsills if it gets really baltic), before giving it pride of place next year :)
