What a night, heavy rain and thunderstorms. The garden needed it. Flooded though. Well only near the step up to the back, not deep but just enough to be annoying. Will monitor it today but there's nowt im doing about it now. All gardened out.

    Lovely day today.

Sun is hot but rain forecast for later.

Radish, Lettuce and Carrot all germinated. Thinned some out today with the kids.

Garden looking at its best in my opinion at the moment. The Ribus i bought went the way of the other one and died. Just do not get it. Mowed the lawn thats greened up really well after the weed and feed 2 weeks ago. Still got some bare area's to fill for next year and stuff to move around.

Al radished out. Don't like them anyway, trying to give them away !!

Ordered the last lot of Box today after my failed attempt at taking cuttings. Ordered 100 plants. On my original design i had the box surrounding the lawn on the inside of the path but now after some thought i think it would diminish the law too much and also wouldn't be practical with the kids so i will line the path on the border side thus enclosing the borders. It will mean a bit of plant moving but nothing too griefy. Then in the future, i will mirror the mini wall and build one on the left hand side, lining that with Ilex Crenata and the odd Box cone. It will all then by fairly symmetrical. Then maybe one day line the path to the bottom with a tunnel pergola. Maybe.

Wow i say again. Never had water running across the garden. The wood used for the raised bed was floating so ive had to stick a slab on it to keep it down. We had had so much rain today its unreal. Bottom of garden under water.
Am i bothered ? Nah :ccheers:

You jest but i said i wasnt worried well, in the end i was extremely concerned. My road was like a torrential river, my garden was a pond, water was bursting out the drains, the neighbours opposite have been flooded out. Friends from all round the area have suffered.

This was a bad day. Worst rain i have seen. Started at 9am didnt really finish until 7pm. Heavy monsoon rain. Terrible.

It's pretty bad there Mr. Grinch! I was looking at a couple of pictures earlier, one was at the bridge on Hambro Hill. A car there had water up to it's roof! You might remember that I come from your area and my family still live in Hawkwell.

                    Yikes!
I've just read this ... I hope you are all ok! Have the water levels dropped overnight?

I grew up in an area where flooding was fairly commonplace. Most years the river would pay at least one "visit" to the lower part of the garden, and the positioning of the veg bed had to take into account the height of a big flood. Some houses locally had the electrics wired at dado-rail level in the ground flood, and carpets had to be easily lifted. But we always had warnings, as it would take about 18 hours for the flood water to come down from Snowdonia, and we were used to it....

This must have been a huge shock, especially in an area not used to flooding.
