Those Country Taste look impressive Freddy. :blue thumb: Where did you get the seeds from?

My Beefmaster are coming along very slowly this year, just a couple of average sized fruit so far, but I do have this one lurking in the undergrowth and a few more are coming along nicely. Circumference of this one is currently 13ins.

            Hiya @Trunky

I bought the seed from a Garden Centre just outside Teighnmouth, who were selling off their old stock. It was a chance buy, and I didn't take too much notice of it's 'type', in fact, I didn't realise it was a large variety. I thought for 50p it was worth trying. The seed company in this case is Thompson and Morgan, take a look here

            Cheers...Freddy

Slaps hands of both Jack and Freddy, it's a light hearted comp, so do please enter, it IS in the spirit of the competition, I/We would just like to know who grows what variety that wins, then we can all try that variety? It's called sharing information, I'm ruling myself out because I won last year but I'll certainly keep this thread updated on my progress, there are NO prizes to be handed out, just the accolade of growing the biggest tomato, so come on the pair of you, enter, it's just a bit of fun!

I think weight is probably the way to go too, seems the fairest way to go considering variances in shape amongst the same variety let alone several varieties.

I've just re-measured the 2 toms in post #116 dated 21st Aug. one week ago today.

Now 330mm/13" circumference. (so probably about 13ozs/370g)

Now 360mm/14 1/6" circumference. (so probably about 14ozs/400g)

P.S. Looking back at last year's thread I saw it was exactly one year ago today when blight got my plants and I posted pics with weights and girths of my best tomatoes had to be picked prematurely. http://gardenerscorner.co.uk/forum/threads/tomato-growing-competition-2012.39418/page-10#post-585569

Thanks for the reminder Scrungee, I think Blight wiped out most of us last year, I've had a near miss warning from "blight watch" this year but still looking good!

I've had 3 alerts and 2 near misses. Sprayed them again today.
