What Jobs Are We Doing in the Garden Today... MK3.. 2013

Not had time to garden today spent most of the day in the garage. Went out to the garage last night to get something from the big freezer and found that the top door was slightly open and inside was almost like an iceberg. Three weeks ago a friends freezer had packed up and I let him use my freezer. A week later he collected his food whilst I was at work and I hadn't been into the garage until last night. I've lost well over £150 worth of food - after defrosting and chipping away the floor is well wet so haven't yet tested the freezer to make sure it is still OK. The sides of the freezer last night were really hot I am surprised it didn't burn itself out.
Now I've got the washer going to wash all the towels that I used on the floor.

What a day and such a lovely day when I should have been in the garden!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

General weeding, and also bought 2 new koi for the pond, as we lost 4 fish over the bad winter. We're now up to 8 fish, 3 koi & 5 goldfish. Turns out we could do with a bigger filter...

 

Decided to take pity on the Box cuttings that have languished in 9cm pots for a couple of years and started potting them on to 1L. Only did about 40 though ...

Planted about a dozen Hydrangeas grown from cuttings taken from here and there last year. Wanted them to be in flower so that I could position them right - we are trying to get a rainbow effect along the main walk in the Hydrangea garden starting at white one end and going through pink to Red at the far end ... time will tell how well that works!

Planted two Aristolochia ringens in the (monster) pots that my Brugs are in. I figures that both need water, and frost-free in winter, so if the Aristolochia clamber up the Brugs then they will come in for the winter when I lift the Brug pots

Also thinking about putting Colocasia in the Brug pots; they are all in my Exotic garden, so would look right, and again will get enough water in the summer (they might need lifting in Winter though as probably want to be drier than the Brugs.

 

Sowed some calendula.
Got the hose out and gave everything a good watering, the promised rain saturday never came.

 

Planted some Alpines which have since reappeared on my bed and been replanted. Good thing they are tough little things!

It's looking good FC! As gardeners it's always a case of win some lose some.....look forward to those dahlias next year.

 

What dahlias have you sold your soul for then FC?

 

Watered,picked some chilli's and peppers,was going to pick some plums but the wasps started attacking me so gave that up.....waited for the neighbours to finish their BBQ before i got carried away with my comfrey tea......
