Can anyone help identify this tree/bush

Hi We have had this appear in our garden can anyone help tell us what it is, the only seeds planted in this area recently were Blackberry but I don't think this is it, please help me Thanks

I have tried to figure this Pete ... I think a Spanish location of some sort ... wondering what trees/shrubs are near by that may have seeded themselves? ...

 

It looks like an ash sapling, but a pic of the stem would be useful.

 

I thought Carob but the leaves aren't wavy enough.

 

Or even guava....leaves look identical.

 

Hi Guys thanks for the replies we are in Fuerteventura in the canary islands, Noisette47 you could be right saying it looks like Guava we do have them in the garden

Carob was where I was heading, but thought it would be good to get the location before jumpimg in.

 

I dont think Guava has a compound leaf.

 

This is a puzzle! No the leaves aren't compound, (we are talking Psidium here, yes?) but in photos, they can give that impression, being paired on the stem. (How's that for a slippery wriggle?). Go on then...your guess

 

The leaves in the pic are definitely compound.
My guess is the same as strongy, Carob, Ceratonia siliqua.

 

Think I agree with the Carob ... I have them all around me ... sadly!

Ok we are still stuck we have looked at the Guava and it looks like it has a much more rubbery leaf
