just dug out some vegetable patches for next year. not 100% sure what I'm planting in them but there is plenty of time to decide.

What a damn tiring job it was too lol.

Didn't do much yesterday, but I did wash my cucumber leaves and water everything.

Mrs C has been looking after a lot of the garden bits for me as I have been back at work and she has been here, and she has been duly spraying the cucumber leaves with milk solution in the mornings in an attempt to get shot of the powdery mildew; however, when I got home yesterday afternoon, the 28ยบ heat being magnified in the greenhouse had made the milk solution turn rather quickly and there was a shed load of flies in there. Worse still, the mildew problem seemed to be getting worse rather than better, so I decided I had nothing to lose.....

So, I got my hose, put the gun on mist setting, and basically pressure washed the mildew off the surface of each leaf in turn - the pressure is obviously not all that high as it is simply a hose, but it appears to have been quite successful looking at them today. Its got to be done leaf at a time, and you have to have one hand flat behind the leaf to support it, but the process of washing the mildew off seems to have worked; it may well have been aided by the fact that the leaves dried quite quickly due to the warmth yesterday.

I tried that FC but it came back. I've just been googling and Listerene mouthwash diluted in water is supposed to get rid of it. I think I'll try it as an experiment.

I planted a Eucalyptus with Willa's help. Then decided that I was just too achy to do more today so I sat and ordered more plants instead. :)

Started the day with routine jobs, e.g. picking tomatoes, peppers...

While picking tomatoes I noticed that there was an awful a lot of basil need to be picked, so I went to fetch my garden scissors, but search high and low, in and out, looked everywhere twice, saw no sign of them:scratch:.

Following Sherlock Holmes style of thinking - after eliminating all that is possible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be true... I went to take stuff out off my compost bin. A third of the way down the garden scissors reappeared . Since I had taken that much compost out, I thought I might as well carry on to turn the whole lot, give them a good mix and add some chicken pellets to aid the decomposition process.

With the re-found scissors, I proceeded to collect a big colander-ful of basil leaves and made them into pesto sauce to freeze for winter use. :coffee:

Went out for what was meant to be a quick check and snail/slug hunt after the rain had stopped - found lots of large slugs everywhere - bagged them up.
